Evan Longoria, also known as Longo in the MLB, is well-known for his baseball skills. Just recently, the talented player was celebrated for getting the San Francisco Giants the team’s first run of the season. When Evan Longoria’s career was taking off he was drafted to the Tampa Bay Rays. After spending a decade playing for Florida, Evan Longoria shifted his career to San Francisco where he joined the Giants. Since Longoria is a native of California many imagined it was a move he would appreciate.

During a Wired interview, Eva Longoria answered the question once and for all. Though the pair are not related at all, Eva Longoria did share a funny anecdote behind their extremely similar and shared name.
The actor explained that Desperate Housewives was at its peak when Evan Longoria’s baseball career was getting started. As a result, when the rookie would go up to bat, the crowd would often chant “Eva, Eva, Eva”. The baseball player didn’t love it, but it must have not bothered the professional athlete too much since he went on to win Rookie of the Year.
When Eva Longoria heard about the news, she sent the baseball celebrity some champagne with a note apologizing about their name similarities. When Evan Longoria received the actor’s thoughtful gift he returned the gesture and sent Eva Longoria one of his signed jerseys and a message explaining that he finds the uncanny coincidence to be an honor.
