On Oct. 18, Netflix announced the To All The Boys universe is returning to the small-screen. The beloved film franchise is getting a spinoff series about Kitty Song Covey, the younger sister of Lara Jean (Lana Condor). Anna Cathcart will reprise her role as Kitty in the television series titled XO Kitty. Here is everything you need to know about the To All The Boys spinoff series.

The spinoff series originated from the ‘To All The Boys’ franchise

Based on the titular book trilogy by Jenny Han, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before follows a shy teenage girl named Lara Jean Covey. When she has a crush on a boy, she writes a love letter confessing her feelings. But, she locks them away in a box, with no intention to send them. One day, the letters are sent to the boys individually. In the end, she falls in love with one of the recipients of the letters, Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo).

Upon its release, the rom-com was a huge success, becoming one of the most-viewed original movies on Netflix. Shortly after, the streaming giant released two sequels, P.S. I Still Love You (2020) and Always and Forever (2021).

The spinoff series follows Lara Jean’s younger sister, Kitty Song Covey. To All The Boys first introduced fans to the sassy younger sister in the first installment. In the film, Kitty sent Lara Jean’s love letters to the boys. Now, fans will get to see Kitty’s love life on-screen. 

According to the TVLine, the official logline reads: ​​“Teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she’ll soon realize that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.”

Is Lana Condor open to returning for the spinoff series?

In the To All The Boys franchise, Lana Condor played the main protagonist, Lara Jean Covey. The 24-year old actor has a deep fondness for the trilogy. But, would she ever return to the To All the Boys universe? Well, Condor isn’t ruling out the possibility. 

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Condor shared her thoughts on the spinoff series. When asked about the project, she said, “I would absolutely support anything that Anna Cathcart does because I think she’s amazing, and I think she did such a great job with Kitty.”

Condor continued, “I love the To All the Boys world more than I think people understand. Like I, myself am a huge fan, so I’m always open to visiting that universe again because it was one that was really kind and beautiful.”

At the moment, Condor and Centineo are not confirmed to return for the series. Han recently told Insider that working with them again would be a “dream.” She said, “That would be like a dream to see them again. But we’ll have to wait and see.”
