A sneak peek of the first episode introduces the new lead, Rory

In a brand-new sneak peek of The Birch Season 2 on Facebook Watch, Rory muses about why Evie became a killer. Unlike many others, her theory is simple: “She was sick of being treated like a dog.”

Unfortunately, Rory can relate to Evie, having been through her own share of torture and pain at the hands of her peers. Rory declares that she’s done being mistreated, too. And she’s ready to do anything to get revenge.

Fans also get a shocking look at the secret lair where The Birch has been hiding Evie all this time.

The popularity of ‘The Birch’ began with Crypt TV’s viral short film

It was Crypt TV’s 2016 short film, The Birch, that sparked widespread interest in the compelling central character: a tree monster originally called Lanie Bouchard who defends kids from bullying. Written and directed by Anthony Melton and Ben Franklin, the compelling short film went viral and won a Webby Award in 2017.

The Birch quickly became Crypt TV’s most popular monster, especially among Gen Z audiences. In the short film, Lanie (Midori Francis) is a 17-year-old adoptee who holds a secret innate power over the forces of nature.

After being coerced into sex, Lanie gives birth to a daughter, who is murdered by her adoptive parents. Lanie avenges her daughter’s death by killing her parents and transforms into The Birch (Dee Sherwood Wallace), an eight-foot-tall nature goddess and treelike anti-hero who protects vulnerable children. Those with “love in their hearts” can call on her for help.

The Birch is produced by Crypt TV with Jack Davis, Kate Krantz, and Darren Brandl as Executive Producers, and Jeremy Elliott and Daniel Persitz serving as Co-Executive Producers. The horror miniseries is written by Casey Modderno and stars Xaria Dotson, Jordyn DiNatale, Amanda Brooks, Nikko Austen Smith, Samuel-Taylor, Casey Likes, Quincy Dunn-Baker and Brady Romberg. John William Ross serves as director, and Anthony Melton, Ben Franklin, and Cliff Wallace serve as Co-Producers.
