‘Extraction’ Actor Who Plays Ovi Was Thrilled to Work the ‘Avengers’ Team
Netflix’s new action film, Extraction, stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a mercenary hired to rescue a kidnapped boy in India. The boy, Ovi, is played by newcomer Rudhraksh Jaiswal. When the young actor found out he would be working opposite Thor for the film, he said it was like a dream come true.
What is Netflix’s ‘Extraction’ about?
Extraction tells the story of a gritty black market ops contractor named Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) who has become fearless after the loss of his only son. Rake is hired to rescue Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), the son of an imprisoned drug lord that was kidnapped by his rivals.
Rake goes to India to rescue Ovi, but he quickly learns that getting him out of the country won’t be so easy. With weapons dealers and drug traffickers hot on his tail, Rake’s mission becomes an impossible challenge. But as he fights off the multitude of bad guys, including a criminal named Saju (Randeep Hooda), he forms a bond with Ovi, and is compelled to save him at all costs.
The ‘Extraction’ team has ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Extraction doesn’t have a fantasy storyline and it has no comic-book connections. But the team behind the movie has plenty of ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It comes from producers Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the sibling duo who directed four of the most popular Marvel films — Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Sam Hargraves, the stunt coordinator who worked with the Russo brothers on a number of Marvel movies, is making his directorial debut with the Netflix film.
Thor actor Chris Hemsworth leads the film as Tyler Rake. And Black Widow star David Harbour joins the cast in the supporting role of Gaspar.
Rudhraksh Jaiswal says working on the film was like living a dream
Jaiswal is an up and coming Indian actor, and Extraction is his first Hollywood film role. In an interview with Cine Speaks, he said working with Hemsworth, the Russo’s, and Hargrave was like a dream come true.
“Actually, I’ve grown up watching these kinds of films and watching Chris,” said Jaiswal. “So when I got to know that I’ll be part of such a large film like Extraction, I couldn’t believe my luck. My heart skipped a beat because when I got to know that the director of this film is Sam Hargrave — and as I got to know the involvement of the Russo brothers — I was thrilled to work with such incredible people, such fine actors.”
Jaiswal said working on the film has been a learning experience. And he revealed that because most of his scenes were opposite Hemsworth, he was able to learn a lot from the actor.
“He taught me the art of delivery, voice modulation, bouncing between the lines, and he also helped me during my action sequences,” he explained. “So, it has been a fun learning experience for me. And I will always cherish working with such a superb, talented team.”
