At this point, it should come as no surprise to anyone when they hear that a Kardashian sister is in hot water for something she’s said on social media. After all, the entire family has perfected the art form of stirring up controversy in order to remain relevant. They even seem willing to feud with one another in order to keep the headlines focused on their family.

Even with this historical pattern of ignoring critics and doing whatever they want to keep themselves in the media spotlight, Khloe Kardashian’s latest Instagram posts are rubbing some fans the wrong way. She has once again posted something that has left fans calling her tone-deaf and out of touch with reality.

Khloé has upset fans before

While Kardashian has largely been a fan favorite among her sisters, she has taken to posting some strange social media posts lately that focus on her portraying herself as “poor.” Since the Kardashians as a whole have immense wealth, the comments have made fans more than a little upset.

Kardashian may not have the wealth of her sisters Kim Kardashian (worth around $350 million) or Kylie Jenner (who earns the median American annual income in about two-and-a-half hours), but she’s a far cry from poor. In fact, she has a considerable net worth of around $50 million.

With all this in mind, it struck many fans as absurd when she posted a picture of her mother in an expensive fur jacket and captioned it “me on my way to spend my last $4.52 on iced coffee.” Khloé Kardashian is likely never going to see her “last” $4.52, and the comments came off as tone-deaf and ignoring the realities of many people who really do live paycheck to paycheck.

Sometimes Khloé’s posts flaunt her wealth

In addition to being tone-deaf about just how rich she really is, Kardashian has also angered fans by flaunting her wealth in a way that feels self-centered and out-of-touch. The entire family’s lifestyle of excess seems a bit outdated and annoying to many fans. That’s why posts that feature wasteful displays or excessively expensive accessories sometimes get rolled eyes as a response.

Kardashian got exactly this response when she posted a picture of her infant daughter surrounded by 14 Birkin bags. Since each bag is worth about $12,000, that meant that Kardashian was displaying her baby with about $160,000 worth of teething toys!

Despite angering fans with her posts in the past, Kardashian doesn’t seem to have learned any lessons. A recent string of Instagram stories focused on being thankful for what you have. It implored readers to focus on how lucky they were if they had food in their refrigerators and a roof over their heads, making them — according to the post — “richer than 75% of the entire world.”

While fans admitted that the sentiment to appreciate what you have is not necessarily a bad thing, the fact that it’s coming from someone with so much wealth is a little hard to swallow. One commenter pointed to Kardashian’s recent Febreze partnership in their objection to the message: “She’s out here spraying Febreze for more PJ money [, but] she wants to lecture us on gratitude. I would never be as obsessed with money as she is.”

Others pointed out how it was particularly hard to read something like this from a rich and famous person in the midst of the economic impact of the pandemic virus capturing the world. “My sister just texted me that they changed her work schedule from 5 am to 3 am to avoid employees coming into much contact due to the virus. But she needs money for her and her 6 month old so she can’t complain. I’m sure she’ll feel more grateful after reading the wisdom of this post,” one person wrote adding a “/s” to indicate sarcasm at the end.

Kardashian may be trying to find some perspective on what really matters in life, but if she wants fans to take her seriously, she likely needs to start by recognizing her own privilege and wealth as the anomaly that it is.
