You don’t see Lisa Kudrow’s name in the news every day, but she’s really making headlines now. Kudrow got the world talking after she went on a television show and mixed up Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian West. Fans just don’t see how that could happen and took to social media to express their shock and confusion.

See what Lisa Kudrow did

The moment went down in early March when Kudrow appeared on the game show 25 Words or Less. Hosted by Meredith Vieira of the throwback show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, the program sees two teams battle against each other in a word game for a grand prize. One team member has to try to get their squad to guess a list of words using only 25 words or less.

In a clip circulating the Internet from one particular round, Kudrow first successfully got a team to guess the word “marshmallow.” The next card had the Lemonade singer’s name on it, which might seem like an easy one to some, but Kudrow got a bit confused and gave a bad clue.

“Kanye [West]’s wife,” she hinted. After a guest named Kim Kardashian West, Kudrow mistakenly said it was the wrong answer. But when the team paused and gave her a confused look, Kudrow eventually realized her error. Cringing, she exclaimed, “Jay-Z!” Two team members quickly named Beyoncé and won the point before moving on to the word “can.”

The reactions to the blunder are so surprised

Some people just can’t understand how Kudrow mixed up Kim K and Beyoncé, with one person writing on Instagram, “KANYEEE??”

“How the hell you make that mistake,” commented another.

Others teased that Phoebe, the dim-witted and naive character Kudrow portrayed on the hit sitcom Friends, jumped out.

“That was Phoebe,” one fan tweeted.

“Lisa Kudrow had a Phoebe moment,” someone else wrote, adding a laughing emoji.

Regardless, many fans still had her back.

“oh sis… still love her though,” read one tweet.

Another said: “Don’t you guys dare drag Phoebe.”

“In her defense she didn’t mix up Kim and Beyoncé,” someone else wrote on Instagram. “She legitimately mixed up Jay Z and Kanye West.”

The irony in those reactions

Speaking of Phoebe, Kudrow is about to reprise her role as her iconic character in an upcoming Friends reunion.

She’ll be joined by all five of her former co-stars: Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), David Schwimmer (Ross), Courteney Cox (Monica), Matthew Perry (Chandler), and Matt LeBlanc (Joey).

The cast and crew have been pretty hush-hush about the forthcoming program, but considering that it comes more than 15 years after the end of the sitcom — which ran from 1994 to 2004 — it seems safe to say that it won’t pick up where it left off and will take place years later.

The reunion special will debut in May to coincide with the release of the launch of HBO Max, a new streaming service from WarnerMedia Entertainment. The platform will also feature all of the old seasons of the show. So if you’re going to check it out, here’s more on how to watch.

In the meantime, stay tuned for other TV and promotional appearances from your favorite Friends stars.
