Chip Gaines had been getting a lot of flack for his long hair and 'Fixer Upper' fans just found out it was to donate it to kids going through cancer treatment. The Magnolia Network star documented the experience and fans are reacting to the transformation.

Chip Gaines is one of the iconic HGTV stars that fans have adored for many years thanks to Fixer Upper. The builder, who is married to the equally iconic Joanna Gaines, had been growing out his hair. What does Chip Gaines look like with no hair?

Chip’s long hair proved to be controversial and the television star knew it. This week he took to Instagram to acknowledge the comments left for him on social media. He said that he was able to “take” the criticism because he had been “growing it out for a good reason.” Chip announced that he wanted to raise money to donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

“So now’s your chance to put your money where your mouth is,” he said in the post. “I’m going to cut my hair, and I’m asking you to cut a check—and let’s see if we can raise a boatload of money for the kids at @stjude. The hair’s coming off on Friday, but between now and then, let’s chip in together for a good cause. And when it’s all said and done, I’ll donate my hair to @cwhl_org.”

The television network owner fulfilled his promise and documented the way they shaved off his head to debut a bald head. In the video he shared on social media, Chip says that he was donating his hair to Bailey, who he met in 2017 when he was undergoing cancer treatment at St. Jude.

“I’m going to donate my hair to a great cause called Children with Hair Loss,” he says in the clip. “And they’ll turn my hair into a wig for kids going through cancer treatment.”

Fans give Chip Gaines tips and react to his new bald head

One of the charming things about Chip is that he’s always a goofball on Fixer Upper. Fans adore him and when he shared the video of his transformation, viewers couldn’t help but to give him tips and react to his newly bald head.

“Well done Chip! Make sure to add sunblock to that handsome bald head!!!!” a fan replied.

“I cannot love this enough!! THANK YOU for using your platform to benefit a great organization. My husband is a childhood cancer survivor. St. Jude worked with his doctors to develop the treatment plan that saved his life,” a follower said.

“What an amazing human being!!!” an Instagram user noted.
