Nothing escapes TV show fans. The tiniest details, from inconsistencies to subtle references, make their way onto social media eventually. And that’s precisely what happened with one crazy detail about the house Monica and Chandler purchase on the hit NBC sitcom Friends.

The production company 22 Vision publicized the connection between Monica and Chandler’s new home and the McAllister’s house in the 1990 cult classic film, Home Alone, according to Mental Floss. Apparently, the two houses had the exact same window view.

But how can that be if the Bings were moving to Westchester and Kevin McAllister lived in Chicago?

Most of the action over 10 seasons of Friends takes place in Monica’s apartment or at the local coffee shop, Central Perk. All 6 castmates lived in the apartment at some point, but by the final season, Monica and Chandler were married and living there alone together.

That’s what made it so heartbreaking when Monica and Chandler announced that they were moving out of the apartment to have more space in the suburbs for their family, which included their twins. It was a happy reason why they were moving, but leaving the apartment felt like the end of an era.

Fans noticed something weird about Monica and Chandler’s new house

The inside of the house isn’t all done up in red and green like the curiously Christmas-themed house from Home Alone. However, the view out the windows of their new house is identical to the one Kevin McAllister saw back in 1990.

A video 22 Vision released showed this phenomenon clearly. In it, fans can see the same front door on the house across the street from the window. Another window reveals a telltale blue and white garage door at the Murphys’ house just like the one in Home Alone.

There’s an easy explanation for the connection. It’s apparently common for TV studios to reuse footage that already exists rather than paying to create their own, especially for inconsequential scenes like the one of Monica and Chandler in their new house. They probably thought no one would notice a little bit of recycled footage.

The season finale of ‘Friends’ meant new chapters for everyone

‘Friends’: 1 Main Character Spent a Small Fortune on Coffee at Central Perk Compared to the Others

The last season of Friends wrapped up all six main character storylines, though fans say Joey didn’t get the closure he deserved. His tale continued during the short-lived Friends spinoff series, Joey.

Monica and Chandler bought a house outside the city and settled down to raise their new babies. Rachel was offered a dream job at Louis Vuitton in Paris. Ross finally told her he still loved her, inspiring Rachel to get off the plane and get back together with him. Phoebe married Mike and started their new life together.

The final scene of the series shows the group leaving their keys on the table in the apartment before heading down to Central Perk for one more cup of coffee. After that, we can assume Monica and Chandler took the train to Westchester and looked out the window, but hopefully never left their twins home alone.
