Don’t throw this sandwich away.

Fans learned so much from the iconic NBC sitcom Friends, from the correct way to carry a couch up a flight of stairs (“PIVOT!”) to the proper way to leave messages for an ex (“I’m breezy!”). Perhaps some of the best life lessons, however, had to do with food.

No one should follow Rachel Green’s trifle recipe — at least, not if they want to impress their dinner guests. But on the other hand, Ross Geller’s signature turkey sandwich is a different story. The epic “Moist Maker” is guaranteed to become a family favorite even when it’s not Thanksgiving.

There’s an entire episode of ‘Friends’ devoted to Ross’s sandwich

Season 5 episode 9 of Friends is aptly named, “The One with Ross’s Sandwich.” Fans know that the sandwich is just an underlying symptom of bigger problems Ross is having in his life, including an impending divorce and recent eviction from his apartment. He overreacts his favorite sandwich being stolen out of the fridge at his workplace. Still, the lunch thief shouldn’t have taken it in the first place.

Ross’s coworkers witness his tantrum and start expressing concern over his mental state. His boss tries to convince him to see a psychiatrist, but Ross refuses, explaining that he’s really just upset someone ate his favorite sandwich.

That’s when Ross’s boss admits that he’s the one who took the sandwich and threw it away because he didn’t like it. Upon hearing this, Ross screams so loudly he can be heard outside. He’s forced to take a much-needed sabbatical from work.

How to make Ross’s ‘Moist Maker’ turkey sandwich

Ross justifies his ire over the sandwich incident by calling it “the only good thing going on” in his life, Insider reported. But even when life is great, it still makes a delicious option for using up leftovers following a turkey dinner (especially Thanksgiving). Here’s how you can make Ross Geller’s amazingly moist sandwich at home.

Ross Geller’s Moist Maker Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of sandwich bread
  • Mayonnaise (optional)
  • 2 pieces romaine lettuce
  • 1/4 cup gravy
  • 1/2 cup leftover turkey or deli-style slices
  • 1/4 cup canned cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup cornbread stuffing
  • Salt and pepper

Assembly:

Lay out a slice of bread. If using mayonnaise, spread an even layer over the slice of bread then top with a leaf or two of lettuce, then half the turkey, followed by half of the stuffing.

Pour the leftover gravy into a shallow dish. Dip a second slice of bread into the gravy and turn to coat. Top the stuffing with this moist maker slice.

Add another layer of lettuce, the remaining turkey, cranberry sauce, and top with the rest of the stuffing and the final slice of bread. Use a large toothpick to hold everything together.
