After two decades, fans look back on the show and realize how much has changed. A few of the storylines are a bit controversial now. Not to mention, some people have an issue with Rachel choosing to be with Ross.

Rachel and Ross’s relationship filled with fighting and anger

By looking at their astrology signs, it would seem that Ross and Rachel are a suitable couple. However, many people think otherwise for various reasons. According to Screen Rant, one of them is that they fight a lot.

The two of them could not stand to be around each other after their breakup. Some of the insults between them appeared more hostile to viewers. They even seemed to point toward Ross’s anger issues, and it is another reason why several fans do not approve of the couple.

Ross even needed to take anger management classes to keep his job once. BuzzFeed also points out how he yelled at Rachel in front of others for her to get ready. Fans of Rachel believe she should be with someone who would not go off on her.

People have pointed out that constant anger and insults do not make for a healthy relationship. Even to this day, they do not think Ross and Rachel should have gotten back together due to their behavior toward each other.

Ross often did not appear supportive of Rachel

When Ross and Rachel had the opportunity to date, Ross did not seem to support her personally or career-wise. For example, he made a pro-con list of Rachel. Part of the list highlighted some of her flaws.

Even though Ross never meant for Rachel to find it, several viewers felt that it was degrading. The act did not appear to be helpful, which made people side against the relationship. Ross displayed jealousy when Rachel started to focus more on her job as well.

People remember when Ross would walk into Rachel’s job to ask for dinner. He never seemed to have taken her line of work seriously. Some fans were disappointed to see Rachel give up a significant job opportunity to stay with Ross.

In one episode, Rachel has the desire to get a tattoo with Phoebe. Instead of supporting her decision, Ross tells her that he does not want her to get one. A few people depicted him as a controlling person instead of encouraging.

The first kiss between Rachel and Ross was a momentous occasion for audiences everywhere. At the time, the scene was a sweet moment for their story arc. However, some fans do not think the rest of their relationship was as adorable in retrospect.

When the two characters get into an argument, they go on a break. During that time, Ross gets together with another woman soon after they pause the relationship. He argues that his decision is not bad since they are on a break. Fans interpret this as Ross disregarding Rachel’s feelings on the matter.

Viewers might see Ross as a disloyal type of partner. Another example is when he flirts with a store employee while shopping with a pregnant Rachel. He even goes on a date with the saleswoman.

While Ross and Rachel are not dating at the time, fans still see it as a reason why she deserves better. Some of them even prefer Joey’s pure adoration toward Rachel, making it clear fans think Rachel should be with anyone but Ross Gellar.
