‘General Hospital’: Laura Wright Almost Did Not Go Out With Wes Ramsey Because of His Age
Soap operas are full of budding romances on their sets. Currently, a couple that is making fans fall in love behind the scenes of General Hospital is Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) and Wes Ramsey (Peter August).
Wright and Ramsey are certainly not shy about their relationship. Ever since they began dating in 2017, the pair has been open about their love for each other.
However, things were not always this sure for Wright and Ramsey. In fact, Wright admitted she was initially hesitant about dating Ramsey because of his age.
What is the age difference between Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey?
Wright was born on September 11, 1970, which means she will turn 50 years old in 2020. Meanwhile, Ramsey was born on October 6, 1977, which means he will turn 43 years old this year. As a result, Wright and Ramsey have a seven-year difference between them.
They first met in 2000 on the set of the soap opera Guiding Light. Wright was around 30 years old at the time while Ramsey was 23. Wright was also married to her ex-husband back then, so nothing romantic developed between her and Ramsey. Both of them ended up leaving Guiding Light in the mid-2000s.
Wright was hesitant to go out with Ramsey because of his age
Wright announced her separation from her ex-husband in 2016, and she reconnected with Ramsey again in 2017 at an Emmy party. The two of them did not keep in touch after leaving Guiding Light, though they hit it off when they saw each other again.
Seeing as Wright was now single, Ramsey decided to ask her out. In an interview with Michael Fairman TV, Ramsey recalled: “There was an assertiveness on my part that was for sure 15 years in the making. I did not expect to run into her. I also did not expect for her to tell me that she was recently single. In that split second, it was one of those, ‘stop the presses!’ moments. Like, you need to give me your number, I’m taking you to dinner.”
In response, Wright joked: “I go, ‘Oh, be quiet! Are you like, 32, because I can’t do that.’”
When Ramsey told her he was “getting ready to be 40,” Wright was on board for a date.
How do Wright and Ramsey make their relationship work?
It’s no secret that every relationship has its own challenges. For Wright and Ramsey, the fact that they are both busy actors on General Hospital is something the couple has to work through.
“I think I can see it being more difficult for daytime actors [to be in relationships], because the work we do is so intense,” Wright told Michael Fairman TV. “I know the weeks he’s getting ready to go into, and I’m getting ready to go into. Where we go emotionally and psychologically to tell these stories, on the level that we tell them, as quick as we tell them, you kind of have to become really in a headspace.”
Fortunately, since both Wright and Ramsey are in similar situations, they seem to have a common understanding of what they need to do in order to maintain their relationship.
