On ‘General Hospital,’ Nina has been playing with fire

One of the main storylines on General Hospital as of late has been focusing on Nina’s double life and all the secrets she’s keeping. In addition to keeping the secrets of Maxie’s baby, she’s keeping secrets of her own — specifically about her relationship with Sonny/Mike.

But all that is threatened when Peter shows up. Sonny/Mike can already tell that Nina doesn’t like Peter, even if he’s not sure why quite yet.

And he’s already trying to get him out of the way by telling Peter he needs to beat feet out of town. But as General Hospital fans know, Peter’s not the type to listen to what people have to say.

Peter has returned — which could lead to her downfall

Previous episodes of General Hospital have pondered the fate of Peter. With Anna Devane busy running around Port Charles trying to find him, she somehow managed to miss that he was all but right in front of her face. In short, Peter is very much alive and ready to stir the proverbial pot.

Soaps @ SheKnows revealed the first part of Peter’s plan. If nothing else, Peter is a brave one, because he’s happy to tangle with Sonny Corinthos (even as he plays as “Mike”) to get his way.

“Peter warns Nina she just made a fatal mistake in dropping clues to that cop. He smugly notes it would be a shame if something happened to Phyllis or “Mike.” “Mike” returns and asks if everything is okay. Peter says he was just pitching a true crime story to Nina about a small town. Peter decides to take a walk and learn about the town. “Mike” offers to accompany him and give him the tour,” they reported. Obviously, they’re talking about where things left off on Friday’s episode.

How far is she willing to go to protect her secrets?

Fans of General Hospital know that nothing is as it seems. Things are certainly getting chaotic for Nina, who seems to be over-burdened with keeping so many secrets. First, she had to keep the secret of Maxie’s baby — now, she has to fight to keep secrets of her own.

In a different report for Soaps @ SheKnows, there’s some speculation that Peter’s magical return from the dead — and his propensity for stirring too many pots — could lead to his demise. Given that Nina’s already calling in her aunt Liesl — who’s known for her deadly ways — it just might be Nina that orders the hit on Peter’s life. After all, Nina’s already promised to take matters into her own hands if aunt Liesl doesn’t help. And if Obrecht’s plan doesn’t go off as well as she thinks it will, Nina just might resort to her last act of desperation.

This is all just speculation, of course. Peter may also meet his maker via Sonny/Mike (Smike?). But we’ll all have to tune in to upcoming episodes of General Hospital to find out.
