‘General Hospital’: Why William Lipton Loves Acting in Courtroom Scenes
In recently years, Cameron has been getting himself into a lot of complicated story lines, which means Lipton is constantly getting new challenges in his acting career. While Lipton gets the chance to star in numerous scenes, at the end of the day, the ones he loves doing the most are actually courtroom scenes.
William Lipton has been on ‘General Hospital’ since 2018
Lipton started acting because of his mother, who is an actress from Sweden. Before landing the role of Cameron, he acted in local productions in his hometown of San Francisco as well as short films.
He first joined the cast of General Hospital in 2018, and this has been his most notable work to date. Since his character is now a teenager, Lipton often acts in story lines involving teenage love, school troubles, and the occasional run-in with the law. As a citizen of Port Charles, Cameron has also seen his fair share of mob violence.
Why Lipton enjoys courtroom scenes on ‘General Hospital’
For Lipton, the scenes that stick out to him as the most enjoyable so far are the courtroom scenes.
“Scenes where a lot of tension builds up and explodes are some of the most fun to portray,” he shared in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “The court- room scenes I’ve gotten to do, every single one of them has been so fantastic because while they can take a little bit longer than most, they include so many phenomenal actors and actresses, such as Becky [Herbst, Elizabeth] and Roger [Howarth, Franco], and the two lawyers I’ve had, Kin [Shriner, Scott] and Nancy [Lee Grahn, Alexis].”
However, Lipton also joked that, when his character got in trouble for almost buying marijuana, the punishment dished out was a bit too heavy.
“I feel like people on soaps turn, like, three years older in less time than Cam was doing community service,” Lipton said.
Lipton is passionate about acting as well as music
Lipton seems to be learning a lot about acting on General Hospital, though he also has another hobby as well—music.
He is a part of a band called WJM, which he formed with two friends. Lipton is a singer and songwriter for WJM. The group has toured with boy band PRETTYMUCH and did a show with Charlie Puth.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Lipton revealed that, in the future, he hopes to be able to hone his musical abilities and continue to perform for other people.
“I would love for that to be my future in any form. I don’t necessarily need to be playing arenas,” Lipton said. “I would love to be producing music, I’d love to be teaching music. Anything career-wise that involves music and being passionate about the things I love, I’d be super-fortunate if I was able to do that.”
