Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry) is one of Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) boyfriends on Gilmore Girls. Their up-and-down relationship ended in the TV show’s final season before Czuchry reprised his role in 2016’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. According to Bledel, Logan’s a version of another person in Rory’s life.

Logan was Rory’s college boyfriend on ‘Gilmore Girls’

After Rory’s first boyfriend, Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), and her second, Luke Danes’ bad boy nephew Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), came Logan. Rory got to know him, the heir to a lucrative newspaper business, when she wrote about Yale’s secret society known as the Life and Death Brigade.

They casually dated before eventually becoming exclusive. But not before Rory cried over Logan and wondered why he didn’t call her. Meanwhile, Rory’s mom and best friend Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), wasn’t Logan’s biggest fan. She watched as Rory stole a boat with him and witnessed him attempting to steal from Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop).

Rory dated Logan until she graduated college. Logan proposed to Rory but she turned him down to pursue her career as a journalist. The two parted ways until Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life revealed they were romantically involved years later.

Alexis Bledel once admitted she felt Logan is what Rory ‘thinks her dad was like’ as a young man

During a 2016 episode of Entertainment Weekly‘s EW Reunites: Gilmore Girls, Bledel gave her thoughts on Rory’s boyfriends.

“They were all interesting for different reasons,” she said. “The three of them are such different people that bring out very different things in my character, which I think is why it was so great that [creator Amy Sherman-Palladino] kind of conceived them that way.”

Talking about Logan specifically, Bledel shared that she felt the character was similar to Rory’s dad, Christopher Hayden (David Sutcliffe).

“Logan, to me, always seemed like it’s her [Rory’s] version of someone, like what she thinks her dad was like,” Bledel said. “His life is more like what Lorelai and Christopher, like their relationship, maybe this would’ve been what their life would have been like if they had stayed together.”

Lorelai and Christopher tried to make their relationship work multiple times during Gilmore Girls. They even got married. But ultimately, Lorelai ended up with Luke Danes (Scott Patterson).

Logan might be the father of Rory’s baby

To add to the Christopher connection, Logan could be the father of Rory’s baby. In Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Sherman-Palladino’s final words were revealed. They were Rory telling Lorelai about her pregnancy.

But who is the father? Is it Logan, Rory’s college boyfriend who she was having an affair with during the revival? Jess? Or the Wookie Rory hooked up with

If Bledel’s correct in saying Logan is a version of Christopher then he just might be the father of Rory’s baby. Logan may have to consider what’s expected of him as a Huntzberger — just like Christopher did with his own family as a teen — and decide not to raise his baby with Rory.

After, all, it’s what happened with Christopher and Lorelai when they became parents as high school students. Plus, it would be another full-circle moment for the show.

Czuchry knows who the father of Rory’s baby is and he refuses to reveal their identity. Meanwhile, Ventimiglia doesn’t know the paternity of the baby suggesting Sherman-Palladino only told Czuchry because his character is the one having a baby with Rory.
