Matt Czuchry has had an incredibly successful acting career so far. The 44-year-old has starred in Gilmore Girls, The Good Wife, and, most recently, The Resident. More projects are sure to come, too. Acting wasn’t always on Czuchry’s radar, though. He entered college on a tennis scholarship and studied history and political science until a male beauty pageant offered acting classes as a prize.

Matt Czuchry credits a beauty pageant with getting his acting career started

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Czuchry explained that a charity beauty pageant is, in a roundabout way, responsible for his acting career. He explained that in college, he signed up for a charity pageant. While backstage, he realized one of the prizes was acting classes. Czuchry said he knew he had to win and that the prize was important.

Czuchry told Entertainment Weekly, “I don’t know if you’ve had these moments in your life — but I knew it was very, very important moment for me. I knew it was going to make a difference in my life. It was just crystal clear in my head.” He won the pageant, took the classes, and started acting shortly afterward. Czuchry became Mr. College of Charleston in 1998 and graduated the following year. He landed his part on Gilmore Girls in 2004.

Matt Czuchry knows how he’d like a second revival to play out

Czuchry is far removed from his time on Gilmore Girls. Still, the famed actor has plenty of opinions about the story. He knows exactly what he would like to see for Logan Huntzbeger if a second revival were to happen.

In January 2021, Czuchry sat down with Us Weekly to chat about his career. The topic of a second revival came up, and while nothing has been announced just yet, Czuchry knows what he wants to happen. He said if he were given a choice, he’d have Rory and Logan end up together. He went on to say that he believes Rory is the one for Logan and that perhaps, the timing just wasn’t right when Logan proposed in the Gilmore Girls series finale. Rory ultimately turned him down.

Before ‘Gilmore Girls’ there was ‘Young Americans’ and ‘Freaks and Geeks’

Czuchry is pretty attached to the character of Logan. He once said the set of Gilmore Girls was his training ground. That’s likely because it was his first major acting job.

Matt Czuchry Once Called ‘Gilmore Girls’ a ‘Training Ground’

It wasn’t his first job ever, though. Before taking on the role of Logan, Czuchry appeared in the short-lived Young Americans. He also appeared on Freaks and Geeks, although only briefly. Since 2016, Czuchry has portrayed Conrad Hawkins in The Resident. The Resident will return for a sixth season, according to a recent press release from Fox.
