God Friended Me is CBS’s Sunday night feel-good drama that delivers a dash of hope and a drop of optimism to anyone who tunes in. The show revolves around a group of plucky millennials who use technology and social networking to help others. In the process, bonds are formed, friendships are born, and people are brought together.

For those practicing social distancing, a show like this is a welcome escape from the harsh realities of the coronavirus pandemic that has swept over the world. As a result of the outbreak, production companies have suspended filming in an effort to reduce the reach of the disease. Here’s how God Friended Me Season 2 could be impacted.

Has ‘God Friended Me’ suspended production?

Through the God Account, Miles, Cara, and Rakesh make personal connections to contribute to the greater good. But, in the real world, a recent act of God has made it necessary to limit connections for the sake of the greater good.

The coronavirus pandemic took the world by storm, spread at an alarming rate, and paralyzed entire countries. In an effort to protect the nation, The United States instituted a travel ban, but alas, the bug had already taken hold.

The Centers for Disease Control set strict guidelines in an effort to slow down the rate of infection. The agency recommends social distancing until the outbreak is under control. With that in mind, Warner Bros. Television Group, the production company behind God Friended Me among other series, halted shooting for the time being. MSN published this statement from Warner Bros.:

With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin.  There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any of our productions, but the health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based.

How will halting production on ‘God Friended Me’ affect Season 2?

For millions of people stuck at home and feeling blue during the outbreak, God Friended Me is just the kind of show that can uplift spirits. Unfortunately, viewers may see less of the show this season than the producers originally planned.

According to TVLine, God Friended Me stopped shooting prior to finishing production on Season 2, which could mean the show may have a slightly shortened season. What’s more, the series will be absent from the lineup on Sunday, March 22. Instead of God Friended Me, viewers will get back-to-back crime dramas with NCIS at 8 p.m. and NCIS: Los Angeles at 9 p.m. However, fans who want their fix can watch previous episodes now streaming on CBS All Access.

If the season is indeed abbreviated, it may take a miracle to wrap up all the storylines by the God Friended Me Season 2 finale. But as far as miracles are concerned, this particular show just might have a shot.
