‘Good Sam’: When and How to Watch Sophia Bush’s Episode With ‘One Tree Hill’ Co-Stars Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz
The Drama Queens are finally reuniting on the small screen. Back in January, CBS revealed that Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz will join their former One Tree Hill co-star, Sophia Bush, in an upcoming episode of Bush’s medical drama, Good Sam. Many fans of the CW’s hit 2000s teen show are eager to see the three stars acting together for the first time in a decade. Here’s when and how to watch the episode.
How the ‘One Tree Hill’ reunion on ‘Good Sam’ came to be
CBS announced the reunion via TV Insider in late January. According to the report, the episode will feature Lenz and Burton Morgan as sisters Amy and Gretchen Taylor, respectively. Gretchen and Amy “cross paths with Bush’s Dr. Sam Griffith” when Amy becomes a patient at Lakeshore Sentinel Hospital in Detroit.
Not much else has been revealed about the episode so far, as it only began filming on Jan 20. However, CBS did share a photo of Bush, Lenz, and Burton Morgan posing together, with Lenz in a hospital gown.
The three actors reunited over the summer to launch a One Tree Hill rewatch podcast called Drama Queens, where they discuss each episode and share behind-the-scenes secrets. However, they haven’t acted on television together since One Tree Hill, which ended in 2012. Bush played Brooke Davis, while Lenz played Haley James and Burton Morgan played Peyton Sawyer.
According to Bush, the opportunity for them to appear together on Good Sam came in light of the podcast’s popularity.
“I was doing press for Good Sam, and because of Drama Queens, everyone was asking if Hilarie, Joy, and I would ever act together again and if I’d have them on Good Sam,” Bush told BuzzFeed. “So, [writer] Katie [Wech], my sweet angel of a boss, listened to all of the press I did for Good Sam before the premiere, heard me talking about wanting Hilarie and Joy to come play, and sent me the script … I was so stunned because they had to come film, like, the following week.”
When is the ‘One Tree Hill’ episode of ‘Good Sam’?
Bush revealed in her interview with BuzzFeed that the One Tree Hill stars would appear in episode 8 of Good Sam. The series just aired episode 5, “Wake Up,” on Feb. 2. Now, Good Sam is on hiatus for a few weeks, with episode 6, “Truce,” set to air on Feb. 23.
If the series continues with no interruption after its hiatus, episode 8 should premiere on March 9. Otherwise, it will likely air later in the month.
Fans can tune in to episode 8 live at 10 p.m. on CBS. However, Good Sam is also available for next-day streaming on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
‘Good Sam’ star Sophia Bush revealed that she ‘sobbed’ after filming the episode
Lenz and Burton Morgan’s participation in Good Sam held a lot of importance for Bush. The Chicago P.D. star revealed to BuzzFeed that she wept when they wrapped filming for the episode.
“I made the whole crew stop to just say, ‘I know some of you in this room understand who these women are to me.’ But, as soon as I opened my mouth, I started weeping,” she said. “I didn’t expect to cry so quickly. I was sobbing.”
Her tears were so powerful that she even made Burton Morgan and Lenz start crying, too.
“My whole crew was like, ‘Oh my god, are you OK?'” Bush added. “Then, Hilarie and Joy were sobbing, and everyone was crying. It was very cute.”
New episodes of Good Sam premiere on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
