Amid the coronavirus pandemic, BBC’s beloved series, The Great British Baking Show is currently on hiatus and we have no idea when the series will return. For years, we’ve watched dozens of amateur bakers compete in the infamous white tent as they’ve desperately tried to impress judges Paul Hollywood, Mary Berry, and Prue Lieth.

Now, we’ve been content to watch reruns as BBC and Love Productions tries to come up with a plan to move forward with production safely so that the cast, crew, hosts, and judges remain healthy and well.

It looks like we’re not the only ones who are missing those intricate bakes, terrifying soggy bottoms, and handshakes from the blue-eyed Hollywood. In fact, to brighten our spirits, the English celebrity chef just shared an unrecognizable throwback photo with fans.

This is how Paul Hollywood rose to fame

Hollywood certainly didn’t just stumble onto the set of The Great British Baking Show back in 2010. The British-born chef worked his way up from the trenches. Initially, he went to art school to study sculpture. However, he quickly found a love for baking instead.

The judge’s father was a baker, so he was able to learn a great deal from him before earning a stellar reputation at other bakeries around the U.K. This enabled him to snag a coveted position at one of the country’s top hotels before eventually earning guest-starring spots on various TV Shows and eventually signing on to The Baking Show.

A motor racing enthusiast, Hollywood has also written several best-selling books including, 100 Great Breads.

Inside Paul Hollywood’s net worth and his ‘The Great British Baking Show’ salary

After a decade, Hollywood earns a pretty penny on The Great British Baking Show. He’s also the last remaining original cast member. The Daily Mail has reported that Hollywood is worth roughly $11.4 million.

As far as his Baking Show salary, he makes upwards of $500,000 dollars per season. Considering the fact that the series typically shoots two seasons per year, that’s not too shabby at all.

Recently, Hollywood has been caught up in some “entanglements” after an affair with 34-year-old chef Marcela Valladolid, the end of his marriage to Alexandra Hollywood .and a brief fling with a 23-year-old bartender, Summer Monteys-Fullam. However, that’s unlikely to alter his role on The Great British Baking Show. In fact, filming could begin as early as next week.

Love Productions told Metro UK, “We’re working hard to deliver Bake Off to the audience this year, the priority is the safety of everyone involved in the production of the series.”
