Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 just got a lot more complicated for Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) and Atticus “Link” Lincoln (Chris Carmack). The two have always been best friends. But now, it seems like everything is about to change. So what’s next for the besties? Recently, Luddington teased Link and Jo’s upcoming storyline in Grey’s Anatomy, and it looks like it’s going to get a little messy.

In the Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 finale, Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) shut down a marriage proposal from Link. So in the first few episodes of season 18, Jo and Link supported each other as they learned to be parents to Luna and Scout.

Meanwhile, things got more complicated when Link and Amelia hooked up during Thanksgiving. Amelia also had a flirtationship going on with Kai Bartley (E.R. Fightmaster) up in Minnesota. Then in episode 7, Link told Jo he used to have a “huge crush” on her when they went to school together.

Link admitted his old crush to Jo knowing that he saw her as his best friend now. However, it was clear that the realization blew Jo’s mind. Then later, she seemed to question whether Link was actually her romantic soulmate. But, in the end, Link just realized that he was still in love with Amelia.

Camilla Luddington hints at what’s next for Link and Jo in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18

Ahead of the Dec. 16 winter finale of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18, Luddington spoke with E! News and teased what’s next for Jo and Link. And ultimately, Jo is trying to figure out how she really feels about her person.

“It’s complicated,” Luddington said. “[Jo’s] whole world’s been shaken a little bit, and she’s just waiting for it to settle. I don’t even think she knows how she feels. She just suddenly feels something, and it feels important.”

That said, it seems like there will be some drama that comes with the Link and Jo storyline as season 18 progresses.

“It’s messy, which we love to do,” Luddington said.

For now, Grey’s Anatomy fans will have to wait and see whether Jo and Link end up together. But it seems like Luddington doesn’t even know how this storyline ends just yet.

“I am rooting for love and happiness for both Jo and Link. I don’t know what outcome that is for either of these characters,” the actor wrote on Twitter on Dec. 9

That said, Luddington promised Grey’s Anatomy fans that the story will be unveiled with time. She told InStyle:

“They’re definitely best friends. With the reveal of Link having a previous crush on Jo, it has definitely sort of opened Pandora’s Box for her, which can never be closed now. So she has feelings and where those feelings go and if they’re reciprocated, as a story that will be told. But things are about to get very, very tricky on Grey’s Anatomy.”
