A quick recap of Maggie and Winston’s wedding plans ahead of the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 17 finale

In Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, Winston and Maggie decided to get married, and the couple asked Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) to officiate their wedding. That said, Maggie and Winston had their hands tied when it came to planning due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Meanwhile, Maggie questioned whether they should wait until things felt “right” rather than “some big compromise.”

Later, Maggie realized what was wrong. Her perfect wedding couldn’t happen because her mom, Diane (LaTanya Richardson Jackson), died and couldn’t be there. Then Maggie proposed a new idea to her fiancé.

“We take the engagement ring that my mom gave me, and we turn it into my wedding band,” Maggie told Winston. “And we don’t wait. We get your grandma and my dad out here as soon as we can, and we just do it with family. Then someday, sometime, when it’s safe, we will have a party that sets the world on fire.”

In the end, Winston was all-in with Maggie’s new wedding plans. Then Maggie’s dad, Bill (Richard Lawson), and Winston’s grandmother, Antoinette (Hilda Boulware), arrived at Grey Sloan.

The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 17 Episode 17 promo trailer teases whether Maggie and Winston get married

Now, Grey’s Anatomy fans are expecting to watch Maggie and Winston get married in the season 17 finale. The press release for “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” confirmed the 17th episode will highlight the couple’s wedding day. Then the promo trailer previews what’s next for Maggie and Winston — and it’s time to get out the tissues.

Midway through the Grey’s Anatomy teaser, Maggie and Winston look like they’re ready for their happily ever after. The couple stands in front of close family and friends. Then Richard asks whether anyone objects to the union between Maggie and Winston. Suddenly, Antoinette and Bill stand up and raise their hands.

“We do,” Antoinette says.

Of course, the objection left Maggie and Winston in shock. But that’s where the Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 finale promo ends.
