The Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 premiere is finally coming out on Sept. 30, and many fans are itching for more spoilers about the new episode. Luckily, actors Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson) and Chris Carmack (Atticus “Link” Lincoln) recently teased what to expect next. So here’s everything the Grey’s Anatomy cast members revealed about the season 18 premiere.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ cast member Camilla Luddington reveals where season 18 starts

Throughout Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial dealt with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Then in an interview with Access, Luddington confirmed the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 premiere will introduce fans to a “post-COVID” world.

“It’s definitely not forgotten. We’re still living in a world where that has affected their lives,” she said. “We’re just living in a post-COVID world that we’re hoping we also get to in our real lives, too.”

The Grey’s Anatomy cast member also spoiled the big event that sets the stage for the upcoming premiere, which is part of a two-hour crossover event with Station 19.

“In the season premiere, we can tease that the Phoenix Festival is happening in Seattle, and the hospital is short-staffed,” Luddington said. “But, of course, there’s sexy moments in the premiere, fun moments, heartbreaking moments. We have all of it, of course.”

What happens to Meredith Grey in the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 premiere?

Still speaking with Access, Luddington shared a few spoilers about Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) arc in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 premiere. The network previously confirmed Kate Burton will return as Meredith’s mother, Dr. Ellis Grey, in the new episode. Of course, Luddington was unable to spoil too much. But ultimately, it seems the Meredith and Ellis reunion will lead to some change.

“Even if we say a little bit, it would spoil a lot. A lot happens in the premiere that’s going to send [Meredith] in an interesting direction,” Luddington said.

Then when speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Carmack hinted that Meredith will make some “important decisions” in the premiere.

“She is cutting out some of the fat — or the BS — in her life and really making important decisions for herself,” he said.

The Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 finale left fans of Link and Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) absolutely devastated. Link proposed to Amelia, and she turned him down. Then in the above interview with Entertainment Tonight, Carmack spoiled what will happen to Amelia and Link in the premiere. But it doesn’t look like the couple got back together during the break.

“Amelia and Link come together in the first episode, working together on a medical case,” Carmack said. “They have to put all of their personal stuff behind them.”

He continued, “Meanwhile, there’s a lot of personal stuff happening in front of them with the patient that is reflecting what is going on with them. So it’s like they’re not talking about it, but the patients are talking about it. It’s a very funny dynamic.”

Now, Carmack and Luddington weren’t the only ones teasing the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 premiere this week. Recently, executive producer Meg Marinis updated fans on Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill), Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) when the ABC medical drama returns on Sept. 30.

When speaking with TVLine, Marinis revealed that Winston and Maggie will come back from their honeymoon in the Grey’s Anatomy premiere. The EP also promised viewers the two will finally get to celebrate their love.

“We’re definitely celebrating the couple,” Marinis said.

The Grey’s Anatomy executive producer also shared what’s next for Teddy and Owen, hinting that they’re “stronger than ever” in the first episode of the season. But they’ll still face a few “challenges as a couple” moving forward.

Clearly, there are plenty of storylines up in the air when Grey’s Anatomy returns with the season 18 premiere. But wherever the medical drama takes the characters, we’re sure it’s going to be extraordinary.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 airs Thursday nights on ABC.
