‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Think This 1 Underrated Character Should Narrate the Series Finale — Not Meredith Grey
With each passing season of Grey’s Anatomy, fans debate more and more about how the series finale of the long-running medical drama should go. This time, viewers think they have discovered the perfect character to narrate the final episode, and it’s not Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).
When will ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ end?
Creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes revealed in a 2017 interview that she and Pompeo have an agreement with each other about the end of the series. She told E! News that she’ll stop production when Pompeo feels like her time as Meredith Grey is over.
“Ellen and I have a pact that I’m going to do the show as long as she’s going to do the show,” Rhimes told E! News. “So, the show will exist as long as both of us want to do it. If she wants to stop, we’re stopping. So, I don’t know if we’ll see 600, but I want to keep it feeling fresh. As long as there are fresh stories to tell and as long as we’re both excited about the stories being told, we’re in. So, we’ll see where that takes us.”
Pompeo also added in a recent interview with Armchair Expert podcast host Dax Shephard that she wants to leave while the show is still doing well.
“I think, to dip out sooner rather than later, at this point, having done what we’ve done, to leave while the show is still on top, is definitely a goal. I’m not trying to stay on the show forever, no way,” she continued.
The star also added that she would know when the time is right to call it quits.
“The truth is if I get too aggravated, and I’m no longer grateful there, I should not be there,” Pompeo concluded.
Fans feel this 1 underrated character should narrate the series finale
Scrub nurse Bokhee (Kathy C. An) has appeared in every season of Grey’s Anatomy but has only had a few lines. She has been present during many major surgeries, including Cristina Yang’s (Sandra Oh) operation on Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) in season 6.
“Bokhee has seen and heard some shit from how long she has been in the show now,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “All the gossip, juicy dirty secrets, shootings, all the dark sh*t. An entire episode before the show ends should be dedicated to Bokhee, revealing everything she knows about everyone.”
Along with only a few others — Ellen Pompeo, James Pickens Jr., and Chandra Wilson — Kathy C. An has appeared in all 16 seasons. So, fans think it would be very symbolic to see her narrate the final episode and add many of the things she knows.
“She should be the one to narrate the finale of the show!” another fan wrote.
Other fans agreed that the scrub nurse should narrate at least one episode, if not the series finale.
“I so agree she’s definitely the underrated character in the show,” another fan wrote. “She could rip everyone to shreds with everything she’s learned about them over the years. It doesn’t matter which character — she knows all.”
Although there is no word yet on when the long-running medical drama will conclude, fans are confident Bokhee should be a significant part of it.
