For many for us, the cast of Grey’s Anatomy has become like family. We have watched their characters go through more than any people should. Plane crashes, the death of loved ones, diseases, shootings, and that’s just to name a few.

The range of emotions that the actors and actresses have to portray is no small task. One minute the characters might be having a normal conversation and the next, one of them has their hand stuck in a body, holding together a bomb. This was an actual scene on the show.

So, for all of the hard work that the cast puts in, they have got to be getting paid. But how much?

Ellen Pompeo

Ellen Pompeo is the highest paid member of the cast. Her character, is, after all, the namesake of the show. When Grey’s entered its fourteenth season, Pompeo began earning over $20 million a year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She gets $575,000 per episode and a seven-figure signing bonus. In addition to the money, she has a back-end equity deal.

“What happened is that I went to Shonda [Rhimes] and I said, ‘If you’re moving on to Netflix and you want the show to go down, I’m cool with that,'” she told the outlet. “‘But if you want it to continue, I need to be incentivized. I need to feel empowered and to feel ownership of this show.’ And she was like, ‘I absolutely want to keep the show going. It’s the mothership, so let’s find a way to make you happy. What do you want?'”

Together with Rhimes, Pompeo inked a deal that made her the highest paid actress on the award-winning television show. She is currently worth $40 million.

Justin Chambers

Justin Chambers has been with Grey’s Anatomy since the very beginning. He is one of the last remaining members of season one. For all of his work as Alex Karev on the hit show, Chambers’ net worth is estimated at $18 mullion and his yearly salary is $9 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Chandra Wilson

Chandra Wilson, or Dr. Miranda Bailey as most people know her, has been on the show since the first season. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she is worth $10 million.

James Pickens Jr.

While one of the more important characters on Grey’s Anatomy, James Pickens Jr. who plays Dr. Richard Webber, doesn’t have as high of a net worth as his costars. Pickens Jr. is only worth $3 million.

Jesse Williams

Jesse Williams didn’t come onto Grey’s Anatomy until Mercy West merged with Seattle Grace Hospital. Since then, his character, Dr. Jackson Avery, has been one of the main characters on the show.

Court documents from Williams’ recent divorce showed that the actor makes around $6 million a year, according to Daily Mail. His net worth is estimated at $8 million.

Kevin McKidd

Kevin McKidd, who plays Owen Hunt, was first brought onto the show to play opposite of Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang’s love interest. Yang has come and gone, but Hunt has remained a steady character on the show for years. Unfortunately, his net worth doesn’t exactly match his tenure on the show. McKidd is currently worth $2 million.
