Guns N’Roses dropped a new track called ‘Absurd’

As is typical Guns N’Roses fashion, “Absurd” is actually stylized as “ABSUЯD.” According to Blabbermouth, this official release from the band is available on all streaming and physical platforms.

The outlet reports that the band first performed it three days ago at Boston’s Fenway Park.

“Some of you might have heard this under another name, but this is really kind of absurd to try this,” singer Axl Rose said while introducing the track. “Wasn’t that funny? And they don’t even know the joke yet. Okay, this is called ‘Absurd’.”

It may sound familiar to G N’R fans

Eagle-eared G N’R fans may think the song sounds a bit familiar. That’s because according to NME, it’s actually been recorded before.

The tune was originally called “Silkworms,” and it was written all the way back in 2001. It was originally supposed to be for the infamous Chinese Democracy album, which was released in 2008. And now, the track has received a whole new revamp and title.

Guns N’Roses performed the song live after a sixteen-month delay in their touring schedule. Their first rescheduled date was at Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania. The band played a 21-song set that included other classic tracks including a cover of Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die.”

What’s the band been up to lately?

While the band is riding a wave of success with its tour, fans can expect new G N’R material very soon.

Kerrang! reports that Susan Holmes McKagan — bassist Duff McKagan’s wife — confirmed as much in a podcast interview back in April 2020.

“I will say Guns N’ Roses have been working fastidiously on some killer new stuff,” she said. “Can’t say much, but I’ve heard bits and bobs and it’s pretty epic. I do want to spread the good news, but not detailed news, I guess. Hopefully, that’ll put a spring in your step!”
