Hailey Bieber became a famous model in the mid-2010s

Bieber began modeling professionally in 2014 after signing with her first modeling agency, Ford Models.

In the next few years, Bieber would become a well-known face in the fashion industry. She walked in shows for brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Saab, Tory Burch, and Dolce & Gabbana.

She also appeared on the cover of magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.

Additionally, Bieber was the face of ad campaigns for popular brands. For example, she worked with Guess, Ralph Lauren, and Levi Jeans, among several others.

Bieber is the daughter of Stephen Baldwin and the niece of Alec Baldwin. As such, some critics have credited her famous last name for being a driving force behind her success, similar to the criticism faced by fellow models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. However, Bieber has always maintained that her family is not the only reason behind her success.

“I want to do everything on my own without my name being a factor,” she told Grazia in 2016. “I try to keep myself separate from it.”

Bieber added, “Kids that already have a famous background are just following in their families’ footsteps. My dad [Stephen Baldwin] and all of his brothers have done this. This is my family business.”

Hailey Bieber reveals why she took a break from runway modeling

Although Bieber was a popular model, she has slowed down her modeling career. In fact, Bieber recently shared that she no longer finds runway work appealing.

“I had a really bad experience with a casting director who was very important,” she told Allure in a new interview. “He said something to my agent that just shook my confidence when it came to the runway. I don’t want to feel bad about myself in this space because I feel really good about the other work that I do. So why would I even put myself in a position to feel small?”

In 2019, Bieber did joke about stopping her work as a runway model. She posted a picture on Instagram Story of herself from a Zadig & Voltaire show and commented on her arm placement.

“What I do know is that ur arm truly should never swing this high when ur walking on a runway,” she wrote in the caption. “Hence why it is not, and will never be my thing again lol.”

Fortunately, Bieber has other areas of her career she can focus on outside of modeling.

In 2021, she launched her YouTube channel, where she interviews other celebrities and talks to experts about topics such as mental health and religion.

Additionally, Bieber will be launching a skincare line. Despite the fact that many celebrities have already entered this space, Bieber is not letting the competition deter her.

“I think that as a team, we are going into it knowing that people are tired of seeing brand after brand after brand from different people and faces and celebrities,” she told Allure. “I definitely have had my fears, for sure, because the market is so busy and so saturated. And I’ve had to, obviously, have the confidence in myself and in our brand to really feel it’s going to be something refreshing and different.”
