For many fans, the Harry Potter movies are the ultimate joy to watch. However, some fans still have a few questions about key plot points in Harry Potter‘s wizarding world. Fans told BuzzFeed about some moments that have them confused, even after all this time.

The Elder Wand: Why didn’t Harry Potter use it again?

The Elder Wand was the most powerful magical tool in the wizarding world. It was one of three elements in the Deathly Hallows necessary to master death.

Many fans can’t understand why Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) didn’t use the wand for one final act of good before destroying it. As Hogwarts lay in ruin, these fans wanted to see Harry wave the Elder Wand one last time to repair everything that was destroyed in the Battle of Hogwarts. But he didn’t.

Hagrid’s hut: Why did it move?

Hagrid’s hut is a safe space for Harry, Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) during their downtime at Hogwarts. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Hagrid’s hut sits on the outskirts of the school grounds along the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Later, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hagrid’s hut isn’t as close to the Forbidden Forest as it was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Is there a reason for the change of location? Or did filmmakers think such a devoted fan base wouldn’t take notice?

Harry Potter’s glasses: Why didn’t anyone magically repair his eyesight?

Harry’s eyesight is notoriously bad. Hermione fixes his glasses upon their first meeting. And throughout the film series, broken glasses become a thing for Harry.

Madam Pomfrey had a remedy for Harry’s broken arm in Chamber of Secrets. Theoretically, wouldn’t that mean she has a solution to Harry’s terrible eyesight? For those fans who considered the superb magic abilities of the people around Harry, many wonder why no one ever corrected his vision permanently.

Horcruxes: How do you make one?

We know the process of creating a Horcrux involves splitting the soul into pieces by killing someone. In doing so, Voldemort made himself more difficult to kill. To stop Voldemort once and for all, Harry had to find and destroy all seven of his Horcruxes first.

But what other steps are required to make a Horcrux? Some fans think cannibalism is involved.

Unfortunately, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling won’t ever confirm how to make a Horcrux. And even if she did, fans would likely still debate the method.

“That’s been the case with most of Harry Potter,” Rowling said in an interview with PotterCast. “I gave my explanation and it just fuels more debate.”

Voldemort’s death: Why didn’t the Dark Lord die a normal wizard death?

Some fans are perplexed by how Voldemort’s body disintegrated into ash in the final Harry Potter film. Given how Harry, Ron, and Hermione destroyed all of the Horcruxes, many fans took that to mean Voldemort was mortal once again. So shouldn’t his death have looked more normal?

Ironically, filmmakers went back and forth with several ideas for how to handle Voldemort’s death. In the end, they chose the visual they thought fans would appreciate most.
