Since tying the knot with Kanye West in 2014, Kim Kardashian West has proudly beared the rapper’s last name. But now that the power couple is one step closer to parting ways, many people are curious to know if the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star will drop “West” from her name once their divorce is finalized.

While Kardashian West has yet to reveal the fate of her last name, Kylie Jenner may have given fans an answer to this burning question in her most recent YouTube video.

Kim Kardashian West has officially filed for divorce from Kanye West

Kardashian West is moving onto the next chapter in her life, but unfortunately, it doesn’t include her estranged husband.

After nearly seven years of marriage, the reality star has officially filed for divorce from West, who she’s been growing apart from for months now.

According to E! News, Kardashian West filed the legal documents on Feb. 19, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

“It’s gotten to the point where they haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months,” an insider shared with the outlet. “They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while.”

Though she initially held off on officially submitting the divorce papers out of concern for her four children, the KKW Beauty mogul realized there was no salvaging her and West’s relationship and decided that it would be best to end things now.

“Kim was just tired of waiting. She tried to give it a chance. She wanted to do this last year,” a separate source told E! News. “She gave it plenty of time but it’s just time to move on. There were no affairs. No one did anything bad. They grew apart.”

Will Kim Kardashian remove ‘West’ from her last name?

Since her long-expected divorce filing was announced, many have been wondering if the reality star will continue to keep “West” on the end of her name.

Seeing as she’s beared the rapper’s last name for the last several years and uses it for branding purposes, the SKIMS founder’s name may stay the same even after her divorce from the rapper is finalized.

There’s also the chance that she could drop “West” altogether. However, that could make things a bit trickier for the reality star, especially when it comes to her eponymously named brand KKW Beauty.

“Kim hasn’t expressed whether or not she will remove ‘West’ from her branding,” a source tells E! News. “If she left it, it would be for her to share the same last name as her kids. Her kids and their happiness are her main priority. She is very protective over them.”

Kylie Jenner seemingly hinted that Kim Kardashian has dropped ‘West’ from her name

While fans have been curious to know if Kardashian West will drop her estranged husband’s last name or not, her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, may have just given them an answer to this question.

During a recent YouTube video in which she does sister Kourtney Kardashian’s makeup, Jenner seemingly hinted that the KKW Beauty mogul has already dropped “West” from her last name.

As they discussed Kardashian West’s infamous “least interesting to look at” comment, Kourtney and Kylie called up their sister to reminisce about the argument.

While Kim was on the phone, the video added the caption, “On the Phone: Kim Kardashian.” This led fans to believe that Kardashian West is ready to leave her marriage to West in the past and move on with her life.

But even though Jenner eliminated “West” from her moniker in the video, Kardashian still goes by “Kim Kardashian West” on social media, so, the fate of her last name remains unknown.

But we’re sure we’ll be hearing about the reality star’s decision to either keep or remove “West” from her last name in the near future.
