Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young has become a superstar in the NBA. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the fifth pick in 2018 but was later traded to the Hawks. Young made his playoff debut in May 2021, and bounced the New York Knicks out of the playoffs while infuriating the Knickerbockers fan base at the same time. When he became public enemy No. 1 during the series on the huge stage that is Madison Square Garden, people in the Big Apple and beyond wanted to know more about Young including if he was dating anyone. How Young and Miller met
Shelby Danae Miller was born on Oct. 25, 1995, in Norman, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma and that’s where she met her beau. Young was part of the Oklahoma Sooners basketball team and Miller was a member of the school’s cheerleading squad. They have reportedly been dating since 2018.
According to her Facebook profile, she now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where Young plays. These days she’s his biggest cheerleader and was on hand when he played the Knicks at MSG. Being in attendance means she heard the opposing fans chanting negative comments about her man. But as Young told Audacy’s V-103, he actually views that as “a sign of respect” [because] “they’re not doing that for everybody.”
The couple posted plenty of videos together during quarantine
Miller is active on social media and has posted photos of her boyfriend. The two have even posted some cute TikTok videos together as well and entertained their followers during quarantine in 2020.
Hoop Life Central noted that Young and Miller also answered some burning questions for fans.
When asked how many kids they want, Miller said “three.” She was then asked when was the last time she went to gym and Young chimed in saying: “It’s been about three weeks.”
Young reacts to viral moment involving his ex-girlfriend
One of Young’s ex-girlfriends made headlines in April 2020 and the NBA player was one of the people who responded to her viral moment.
During the 2020 NFL Draft, prospect CeeDee Lamb was selected by the Dallas Cowboys. Cameras cut to him on the couch with his girlfriend, Crymson Rose, while chatting with his new team. The clip, which quickly circulated on the internet, shows Rose take Lamb’s cell phone before he grabs it back out of her hand. Social media dubbed it the “phone snatch” and thousands of people commented including Young.
“Bruh said ‘nahhhh what you doin,” the Hawks guard wrote alongside a retweet of the video. Not much gets past social media detectives though as they dug up pics of Young and Rose together and pointed out that she is his ex.
Oh and about that phone-snatch seen around the world, Rose cleared things up and denied that she was trying to snoop on Lamb’s phone. “His agent was FaceTiming him while he was on the phone with the Cowboys,” she explained (per TMZ). “I was doing the GF thing gonna answer it for him sheesh.”
