Fans of this series compare Joshua Bassett to Shawn Mendes and other singers. However, one cast member even said that this High School Musical: The Musical: The Series cast member looks like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home actor, Tom Holland.

Here’s what we know about the cast members from season 2 of this Disney+ original series.

Cast members returned for ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 2, including Joshua Bassett

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat, even if these theater nerds are branching out from their High School Musical roots. For season 2 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, these characters are rehearsing a stage production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, led by Miss Jenn.

The problem is a new competition the school is entering and their bitter rival, North High School. This new season featured returning cast members like Olivia Rodrigo (Nini) and Bassett (Ricky), who created original songs for this Disney+ series.

Season 2 also featured new characters, including the North High exchange student named Antoine. While he was alone with Ashlyn, this character stirred up trouble for the Wildcats.

One character from ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ compared Joshua Bassett to Tom Holland

When the East High School students snuck over to North High School, one of the rival theater nerds talked to Ashlyn. That was Antoine, who tried to ask this character out. The singer said she was flattered, but she had a boyfriend.

When it came to pointing out the East High students, the exchange student compared Ricky to Tom Holland, the actor known for playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (He wasn’t exactly wrong, as Ashlyn pointed out.)

“I assume it’s that dashing young man who looks like Tom Holland on stilts,” Antoine said to Ashlyn, turning to Ricky. This wouldn’t be the first time a High School Musical: The Musical: The Series character made a pop culture reference, comparing Bassett’s character to other celebrities.

Big Red told Ricky that he sang and looked like Shawn Mendes

Before the cast members learned of the official Miss Jenn pick for the spring musical, the Wildcats assumed they would be performing High School Musical 2. As a result, Ricky showed Big Red his original version of “Bet On It.”

“Dude, you’re totally going to get the part,” Big Red said after Ricky’s impromptu Troy Bolton performance. “You look like Shawn Mendes, and you sing like Shawn Mendes.”

Even other cast members shared their love for celebrities. During season 2’s premiere, Kourtnee made a vision board of powerful women, including Beyoncé in her 2018 Coachella outfit and United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
