High School Musical: The Musical: The Series featured songs from High School Musical, as well as originals written specifically for the Disney+ streaming platform. That includes “Just For a Moment,” a song predominantly performed by Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett.

Olivia Rodrigo wrote several songs for ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’

Outside of her “Déjà Vu” and “Drivers License” stardom, Rodrigo wrote songs like “Just For a Moment” and “All I Want.” She also appeared as Nini during the first season, starring alongside Bassett, who portrayed Ricky. When discussing their favorite part of this mockumentary, Bassett shared that he liked when his character finally said “I love you” to Nini.

“It was such a thrill to film because it felt like the whole season was leading up to that moment,” Bassett said during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “And I remember filming that day, I felt so alive and we were both so in it and it was so intense and so surreal and yeah, it was a dream to film. I’m so excited for people to see it. But yeah, episode 10 was probably my favorite moment between Nini and Ricky.”

These actors also play a role in the second season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, now with some characters starring in East High School’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2 premieres on Disney+ in May 2021, with new episodes premiering on a weekly basis. All episodes of season 1, including the “Opening Night” episode, are available on the streaming platform.
