‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Is Doing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and We’re Already Working on Our Cast List
It’s a tale as old as time and now, it’s coming to the halls of East High. The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series teased their upcoming musical and we’re already planning our dream cast list. Here are a few fan theories surrounding this Beauty and the Beast production, coming to Disney+ during Fall 2020.
Miss Jenn picked ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as the next musical for East High School
Season 1 of this Disney+ original series left on a bit of a cliffhanger. Viewers may not know if Nini is going to another school or if Gina can stay for another production. However, fans did learn what East High’s next production will be.
Disney+ posted on Instagram a clip of the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series singing the title song from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Fans figured out pretty quickly that would be the musical featured during season 2 of this Disney+ show.
There’s one theory regarding the cast of ‘Beauty and the Beast’
Since Disney+ posted that video, the sleuths of the internet took it upon themselves to figure out who will be in each role. One theory of the upcoming cast list suggests that Kourtney, because she is standing in the middle and wearing yellow, will portray Belle. Matt Cornett, who portrays the character EJ, stands beside her wearing brown, leading some fans to think he could be the Beast.
Another color-based theory suggests that the yellow and brown outfits worn by Kourtney and EJ respectively could mean they’re portraying the unlikely duo Lumiere and Cogsworth, which we can totally see happening. The color theory continues with some thinking Nini will be Belle because she’s wearing red, the same shade as the enchanted rose from the animated film.
“Hold on…what if Kourtney gets Belle and E.J. is the Beast…and then Kourtney and E.J… hold on, wait, I’m thinking,” one Twitter user wrote. Of course, nothing has been confirmed by Disney. Still, some fans decided to share their fantasy cast list for this high school production.

With so many incredible actors portraying these High Schoolers, it’s hard to pick who should have the lead roles in Beauty and the Beast. Still, some fans took to social media, sharing their thoughts on the upcoming production.
“Wait, so apparently HSMTMTS is coming back and they’re doing Beauty and the Beast. This doesn’t make much sense to me but if either Gina or Ashlyn don’t play Belle what’s even the point,” one Twitter user wrote.
“I’m of two minds here: If we were to watch the production only I’d go with the obvious (Belle/Nini, Gaston/EJ, Beast/Ricky), but since we see all the behind the curtain drama, I want them to mix it up (Belle/Kourtney, Gaston/Seb, Beast/EJ),” another Twitter user said.
