Hilaria Baldwin’s accent

While Hilaria, whose birth name is Hillary, now claims that she never said that she was born in Spain, that was the general story that surrounded her and was perpetuated by people who represent her, like her agency, Creative Artists Agency, which listed on their website that Hilaria was born in Mallorca, Spain.

Most people just accepted that Hilaria was of Spanish descent as she sometimes spoke with a Spanish accent and has family who lives in Spain. But when podcaster Tracie Egan Morrissey shared a number of posts to her Instagram story showcasing that Hilaria seems to pick and choose when to put on the accent, the internet basically blew up with questions about Hilaria. Morrissey also revealed that both of Hilaria’s parents are American, which furthur confused fans.

Where was Hilaria Baldwin actually born?

After getting so much attention, Hilaria took to Instagram to defend herself and explain why the mixup may have happened.

“I’ve tried in the past to be clear, but sometimes people don’t report and write what you say,” she said in a video on Instagram. “I’m born in Boston, I then spent some of my childhood in Boston, some of my childhood in Spain… everybody is over there in Spain now and I’m over here. So there was a lot of back and forth my entire life.”

She also explained her dissapearing accent.

“If I’ve been speaking a lot of Spanish, I tend to mix them and if I’m speaking more English…then I mix that,” she said. “It’s one of those things that’s always been a little bit, I’ve been a little insecure about.”

Hilaria claimed that her enunciation is actually something she has been working on since even before gaining all this attention.

“I try to speak more clearly in each language,”she said. “I think that that’s something that I should try to do but sometimes I mess it up and it’s not something that I’m like, playing at, so I want that to be very, very, very clear.”

How much time has Hilaria spent in Spain?

Since news broke that Hilaria was not born in Spain, people have been wondering if the star even has any ties to the country.

In an interview with The New York Times, Hilaria revealed that she calls Spain home because that’s where her parents are.

“If my parents move to China, I am going to go to China and say, ‘I’m going home,’ ” she said.

She also explained that her family has a connection with Spain and that her dad would often go there when he was younger.

“It was something my father introduced to my mother when they met, when they were pretty young,” she said.

She would not, however, reveal how much time she, herself, spent in the country.

“I think it would be maddening to do such a tight timeline of everything,” she said. “You know, sometimes there was school involved. Sometimes it was vacation. It was such a mix, mishmash, is that the right word? Like a mix of different things.”
