Meghan never revealed who she voted for in the 2016 presidential election. However, from the things that she did, it’s clear to many fans that she was a Clinton supporter.

For example, in the months leading up to the election, Meghan openly criticized Donald Trump for some of his policies, calling them “divisive” and “misogynistic.”

She also urged her fans to consider voting for Clinton. She said in an interview: “You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hillary (Clinton). Yes, you’re voting because she’s a woman, but certainly, because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting.”

Hillary Clinton stood up for Meghan Markle against negative press

After Meghan became a royal and started receiving negative press in the U.K., Clinton decided to come out in support of Meghan as well. In an interview in October 2019, Clinton called out negative reports about the Duchess of Sussex that were racially-motivated.

The former presidential candidate said: “The way she’s been treated is inexplicable. If the explanation is that she’s biracial, then shame on everybody.”

A month later, Clinton also shared on a radio show that she wanted to hug Meghan after what she had been going through.

“You know, it’s not easy,” Clinton said. “And there are some techniques that can be learned along the way, some humor, some deflection, whatever, which I’m sure she will come to. But it is tough what she is going through. And I think she deserves a lot better.”

Hillary Clinton visited Meghan Markle back in November

It seems that Clinton and Meghan have been getting on well. Outside of saying nice things about each other in interviews, it was discovered back in November 2019 that Clinton had visited Meghan at her home in Frogmore Cottage.

A source confirmed to People that Clinton even got to meet Meghan’s son, Archie.

“It was sweet,” the insider shared. “She got to hold him and snuggled him. She is very proud of Chelsea’s three kids and there was lots of chatter about newborns and feeding schedules.”

The source even revealed that Meghan and Clinton both “were equally excited to meet each other.”

Hillary Clinton recently shared a quote from Meghan Markle

Meghan has been going through a lot recently. She and Prince Harry announced in January that the two of them were stepping down as senior members of the royal family.

The whole scandal has been referred to as “Megxit” in the press and on social media. Much of the blame has also been placed on Meghan, who critics accuse of trying to tear Prince Harry away from his family.

Clinton decided to show social media supporters that she still has Meghan’s back. The former Secretary of State took to Instagram to share a quote from Meghan that read: “Women don’t need to find a voice. They have a voice. They need to feel empowered to use it, and people need to be encouraged to listen.”

Meghan said these words at the first annual Royal Forum back in 2018. At the event, she also emphasized her desire to fight for women’s empowerment.
