How ‘A Star is Born’ Changed Bradley Cooper’s Relationship with Irina Shayk

It’s a sad time in the world of celebrity couples. Last week, model Irina Shayk and actor Bradley Cooper called it quits after four years of dating. The two share a two-year-old daughter.

Though the couple has been together for quite some time, things reportedly haven’t been good between them for a while.

And it didn’t help matters that after A Star is Born was released, fans everywhere were calling for Cooper to start dating his costar, Lady Gaga.

So, did the film have a negative affect on Cooper’s relationship with Shayk?

How did ‘A Star is Born’ affect Cooper’s relationship?

Filming a movie is no small feat. It requires spending long hours on set and then even more time promoting the film after all is said and done. And that means spending less time with your family.

“Bradley was emotionally absent during the long time filming A Star Is Born,” an entertainment source recently told People. “They tried to save the relationship but it had changed.”

Not many people knew that Cooper and Shayk’s relationship was in such trouble.

“Since Bradley and Irina have always been very private about their relationship few knew there was really for sure something going on,” the source continued.

One person, who reportedly did know of the couple’s struggles, was Gaga.

“Bradley has worn his heart on his sleeve through his relationship struggles and Gaga was there for him all along the way to listen and provide any advice she could give,” a source close to Cooper told HollywoodLife. “Bradley knows her as Stefani and they built that friendship through filming and they have had many talks because, honestly, they both have had relationships that have gone sour. They have experienced similar struggles.”

Though Cooper leaned on Gaga during the rough patch in his relationship, the source did not contribute the breakup to the singer.

“He put so much trust in Gaga and she has helped him quite a bit with many talks because they both have experienced similar parallels with their careers and again in the relationship department,” the source continued. “Many think that this will lead to them being a thing but right now that is not the case. Bradley needs a friend and Gaga is really being that for him. She in no way was the reason for the breakup.”

Did Cooper and Shayk try to fix their relationship?

Throwing four years away is not something that most people take lightly. And apparently, Shayk and Cooper originally tried to work things out.

After the film wrapped, Cooper attempted to spend more time with his family.

“After awards season ended, Cooper slowed down to focus on his family,” a source told People in April.

But that wasn’t enough to mend what was broken and soon the pair started spending time apart again.

Before their split, sources told People that the couple was basically “living totally separate lives.”

“If he was in L.A., she’s out of town, and if she was in town, he was out of town,” an insider told the outlet.
