Brad Pitt was seemingly at his lowest point when Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in the fall of 2016. But four years later, the actor has turned things around in a big way and seems to be back to his old self. With Pitt enjoying his recent win for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars, here is a look at how Pitt and Jolie have handled their split very differently.

Angelina Jolie takes the offensive

Jolie stunned fans around the world when she filed for divorce four years ago. The actress’s decision to end her marriage reportedly came after an altercation between Pitt and the couple’s oldest son, Maddox, on a private plane.

In the weeks and months following the split, the Department of Children and Family Services and the FBI investigated Pitt and concluded that the actor did nothing wrong.

Despite the conclusion of the investigation, Jolie seemed bent on dragging Brad Pitt’s name through the mud. When he was filming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2018, for instance, Jolie claimed that Pitt failed to pay her enough child support.

In response, Brad Pitt’s lawyers revealed that Pitt had paid Jolie over $9 million over the course of two years. Luckily for Pitt, working on the film provided him a much-needed escape from the drama.

“He was filming with all the legal stuff going on in the background,” a colleague shared. “It was a really difficult time in his life and he had great support from everyone on set.”

Pitt turns things around

Custody has been a major point of contention between Jolie and Pitt. Following the child abuse allegations, it took a long time for Brad Pitt to repair his public image. It also didn’t help that Jolie kept up the smear campaign, something that is still preventing them from finalizing their divorce.

But after going through counseling and dealing with his substance abuse problems, Pitt has been granted more custody rights over his six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.

One thing that has helped Brad Pitt is being open about his personal issues in public. A few years ago, Pitt admitted that he struggled with alcoholism and that he could have been a much better father.

Pitt has continued to be open and seems very comfortable with poking fun at his own shortcomings, something that Jolie would never dream of doing.

Brad Pitt pokes fun at himself

Pitt has won several awards for his part in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This includes his first-ever Oscar as Best Support Actor and a win at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

According to Page Six, Pitt made a few jokes at his own expense while accepting his awards, a move that has gone over well with fans. It also makes it very clear that Pitt and Jolie are handling their split differently in public.

“I’ve gotta add this to my Tinder profile,” Pitt joked at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. “Let’s be honest, it was a difficult part. A guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn’t get on with his wife. It’s a big stretch.”

Brad Pitt’s openness has endeared him to fans and is a sign that he is comfortable with talking about the split in public. Jolie, on the other hand, is reportedly still looking to smear Pitt’s name any chance she gets.

While the two are still working through the final parts of their divorce agreement, Jolie is reportedly ready to up the ante in her war with Pitt.

Jolie supposedly threatens to release video of Pitt

An inside source told Star that Jolie has a video of Pitt while the actor was drunk. The insider says that the content in the video is enough to “destroy” Pitt.

The clip allegedly features Pitt driving a golf cart at an airport while under the influence of alcohol.

Pitt has not said anything about the video, though other sources claim that the reports are completely untrue. Jolie has also remained silent on the issue, so it is difficult to tell if there is any truth behind the rumors.

Pitt and Jolie were together for over a decade before calling it quits. They share six children, and Pitt’s relationship with his oldest son, Maddox, is reportedly very strained. Maddox, of course, is currently attending a university in South Korea.

Brad Pitt reportedly skipped the BAFTAs in order to see Maddox and work on their relationship.

For her part, Jolie recently landed a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be playing a role in the upcoming movie, The Eternals.
