Meghan Trainor is gearing up for a big 2020. Her third album dropped on Jan. 23, along with her latest single “Nice to Meet Ya,” featuring a verse from Nicki Minaj. What’s more, she’s set to tour with Maroon 5 and appear on The Voice UK alongside Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones, and will.i.am.

Along the way, Trainor’s husband Daryl Sabara, who rose to fame as a child star in Spy Kids, will be her rock. The young couple is head-over-heels in love, and their backstory is just as sweet as they are.

Trainor and Sabara were set up by Chloë Grace Moretz

Sabara and Trainor started dating around four years ago when a mutual friend introduced them. Their matchmaker, as it turns out, was none other than Chloë Grace Moretz of The Amityville Horror and The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

On The Late Late Show With James Corden, Moretz told the talk show host she introduced them because they were both “really good friends” of hers.

“I met, Meghan, we hung out, she said she really wanted to meet a good guy,” Moretz explained. “I knew Daryl really well from when we did a play together. And I set them up, and they’re engaged to be married! So I’m a real matchmaker.”

In a cover story for Cosmopolitan, Trainor said she and Sabara hit it off right away after Moretz introduced them. And the chemistry, it seems, was right from the beginning.

“We went on a double date, bowling and karaoke. He kissed me at the bowling alley,” Trainor said of her first date with her now-husband. “I told my security to step outside ’cause I didn’t want to be watched.”

The singer added that Sabara was the “best kisser ever.”

The couple had a low-key backyard wedding in 2018

Trainor and Sabara started dating in the summer of 2016. Sabara proposed not long afterward, in 2017, amid Christmas lights on Trainor’s 24th birthday.

The “All About That Bass” singer wrote a gushing Instagram post after the romantic proposal, which was captured on video. “I SAID YESSSS!!!!” she wrote. “For my 24th birthday, the love of my life @darylsabara made all of my dreams come true. He proposed to me under a tunnel of beautiful Christmas lights and surprised me with my family and friends. I’m still in shock. I’ve never been this happy! Thank you Daryl, my family and friends for making me feel like a real princess.”

Exactly one year later, on the day Trainor turned 25, Sabara and his pop star love made it official. They got married in Los Angeles with 100 friends and family in attendance.

Sabara seems like the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, at least on social media. He frequently posts about not being able to get enough of his wife. “I have the most beautiful WIFE!” he wrote shortly after their wedding. “Thank you for making me the luckiest man in the world. I love you forever and always.”

In Jul. 2019, the hopeless romantic thanked Trainor for making his life spectacular. “3 years of absolute magic,” he wrote on Instagram. “You were the most incredible girlfriend. You were the most beautiful fiancée. You are the most loving and caring wife a husband could ever ask for. Thank you for loving me for me and for making me so happy each and every day.”

The ‘Nice to Meet Ya’ singer hopes to start a family with Sabara in the future

Now 26 and set to celebrate her second wedding anniversary at the end of 2020, Trainor told The Sun she hopes to have at least five kids with 27-year-old Sabara.

“Urgh, my ovaries are crying all the time. They’re screaming!” the pop star revealed after she and her husband gushed about their first year of marriage, saying it was “better than they ever thought” and destined to last “forever.”

And Trainor isn’t just hoping for one or two kids. “I cannot wait because all five of them are going to be the best children,” she said. “Oh, yeah, I want a farm. I want all the kids in the world, especially with him. They’re gonna be the cutest. I mean, everyone saw how cute he was as a kid. Adorable.”
