How Does Wilmer Valderrama Really Feel About Demi Lovato’s Engagement?

Wedding bells are in ringing for Demi Lovato. Earlier this week, the singer announced that she was engaged to her new boyfriend Max Ehrich. While this is good news for Lovato and Ehrich, there are some people who may not be too happy about this union, namely, Lovato’s exes. But Wilmer Valderrama, who dated Lovato for six years is surprisingly unbothered by the announcement.

Wilmer and Demi’s relationship

Lovato and Valderrama met when Lovato was just 17 and he was 29. They waited until Lovato turned 18 to start dating officially. When Lovato began living a sober lifestyle, she credited Valderrama with helping her remain healthy.

“I wish I could put into words how grateful I am for this man right here,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post in 2015. “But my love has grown to a level that words could never possibly express how much this man completes me. He’s loved me the way I never thought I deserved to be loved and with this day marking my third year sober… After sharing my ups, putting up with my downs, and supporting my recovery… he still never takes credit and I want the world to know how incredible his soul is. I really wouldn’t be alive today without him.”

They broke up in 2016 in an amicable split. Lovato just knew that she needed to leave the relationship to grow.

“The sparks never faded, but there are issues that I haven’t conquered yet that I know I won’t conquer if I’m relying on somebody else to take care of the loneliness,” she said in her 2018 documentary, Simply Complicated.

Demi’s engagement

Yesterday, Lovato announced her engagement to Ehrich after only going public with the relationship in March.

@maxehrich I knew I loved you the moment I met you,” she wrote on Instagram. “It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!

How does Wilmer feel?

Wilmer, who is now engaged to model Amanda Pacheco, is happy for Lovato.

“Wilmer wishes Demi nothing but the best and is happy to see she’s found someone to share her life with,” a source told HollywoodLife. “Although things didn’t work out between them, Wilmer is a firm believer that you always take certain lessons away from past relationships and they shared experiences he’ll never forget. He’s glad to see Demi found her person and Wilmer has found the love of his life in Amanda. They both found their fairytale ending and that’s as good as it gets.”

Though Valderrama and Lovato are no longer romantic, everything they have been through together has bonded them.

“When it comes to anything romantic, that ship has sailed,” another source said. “People will have to stop thinking that. What stands out now is their friendship. Something that thrives because they have been through so much together. They forever share a bond that will be as one of a kind as anyone could imagine.”
