Who did Cobie Smulders play in ‘How I Met Your Mother’?

For nine seasons, Smulders portrayed the role of Robin Scherbatsky in the CBS sitcom. Robin meets the main friend group by going on a date with Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) in the first episode.

While the two didn’t work out initially due to Robin’s commitment-phobic nature, the broadcast journalist becomes a huge part of Ted’s life. She also joins the friend group, becoming best friends with Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan) and dating Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).

Robin deals with tough issues throughout the show. She tries to earn her father’s approval and also finds out she is infertile. Robin learns to have a healthy attitude toward commitment while strengthening her relationships.

How Cobie Smulders’ character Robin Scherbatsky ended up

After years of on and off feelings for Ted, Robin finally realizes her deep emotions toward him. She does marry Barney first, and the two stay together for three years. However, Robin grows distant from the group after she and Barney divorce and she knows her true feelings for Ted.

The final episode shows Ted returning to Robin, paralleling the pilot episode of the show. Fans don’t get to see Ted and Robin’s journey after that — as the show’s premise of how Ted met his kids’ mother is over.

But some fans want more and wonder where Robin, Ted, and the rest of the gang could go from the final episode of How I Met Your Mother.
