How Many Grammy Awards Does Lady Gaga Have?

Lady Gaga has become one of the most influential artists in the world, and even though she’s added actress to her resume, music is still her first love. It is also the one she is most recognized for. Lady Gaga has scored a staggering number of both Grammy awards and nominations, beginning way back at the start of her career.

In 2008, Lady Gaga was best known for her outrageous costumes and hard-hitting dance tracks. Critics, as well as fans, were able to look past the crazy outfits to see the true talent underneath, and at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in 2008, Lady Gaga scored her first Grammy nomination, for her song, “Just Dance.” Although she did not win the award, the following year would hold many surprises for the young artist.

In 2009, at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga was nominated for a staggering five Grammys, for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Dance Recording, and Best Electronic/Dance Album. Ultimately, Lady Gaga won two of the five awards that year, for Best Dance Recording (honoring her song “Poker Face”) and Best Electronic/Dance Album (for her groundbreaking album, “The Fame”)

The 2010 awards season was Gaga’s most successful to date, with a total of six Grammy nominations. She took home three awards that night, for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Short Form Music Video. In 2011, Gaga scored three nominations but didn’t win an award that night. She became well-known for her ability to craft a great dance track, highlighted by her soaring vocals – and of course, the quirky music videos that usually accompanied the singles.

For the next three years, Gaga was noticeably absent from the Grammys, as she focused on other projects, including some television acting and touring. In 2014, she took home a Grammy for her jazz album collaboration with Tony Bennett, “Cheek to Cheek.” The following two years, she received a total of three nominations but went home empty-handed. During this time, Lady Gaga was also hard at work on her image and gradually shifted from her early days of meat dresses and egg carrying cases to a more streamlined look and sound. She started appearing on red carpets in more glamorous attire as if to remind people that there is much more to her than what initially met the eye.

The 2018 Grammy Awards

Although nothing has yet topped the incredible success that Lady Gaga enjoyed at the 2010 Grammys, she came close in 2018, after the release of A Star is Born, the filmed directed by Bradley Cooper and starring Lady Gaga. Gaga was involved in the film’s music, and the title song, “Shallow” scored big at the Grammys, with four individual nominations and two wins, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media. She also won that year for Best Pop Solo Performance, after the staggering success of her single “Joanne.”

To date, Lady Gaga has won a total of nine Grammy Awards and has received twenty-four total nominations. This is a remarkable achievement by any stretch of the imagination, especially when considering the fact that Lady Gaga is only 32 years old. The sky’s the limit for Gaga, and as she has proven time and time again, she is an absolute master of musical reinvention. While fans might be able to look forward to more on-screen performances from Lady Gaga, following the success of A Star is Born, here’s hoping she never stops making great music.
