Chicago P.D., created by legendary television producer Dick Wolf, is one of the most popular shows on network television. The show has run on NBC for seven seasons and has been renewed for three more seasons. Excited fans of the show won’t have to wait long to watch the popular program, as the show’s 8th season premiere is set for November 11, 2020. Besides the heart-pounding thrills and interpersonal dramatics, one of the main reasons for the show’s popularity is due to the beloved characters such as Detective Sergeant Henry Voight, who is commonly referred to as Hank.

Voight is played by veteran actor Jason Beghe, who has become a major television star from his portrayal of the hardened yet beloved detective. Throughout his life, Beghe has had many interesting experiences both on and off-screen, including a friendship with John F. Kennedy Jr., and a number of years in the Church of Scientology. These experiences, and his role as Hank, has caused many fans of the Chicago franchise to wonder about the actor’s personal life.

Who does Jason Beghe play on ‘Chicago P.D.?’

Chicago P.D. and its sister shows Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, follow the professional and personal lives of the brave public servants of Chicago as they attempt to make their city safer and a better place to live. P.D. focuses on the trials and tribulations of the Intelligence Unit of Chicago’s 21st District.

The unit is led by Beghe’s character Sergeant Hank, who was first introduced in Chicago Fire and has become a main player in P.D. The unit’s gruff and respected leader, Beghe is known for his tough exterior that covers his soft and loving interior. He also has a somewhat tragic backstory, as his wife and son are deceased in the show, but he has a family in his foster daughter Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush). The character is a fan-favorite, which has led many viewers to wonder more about the actor that plays the well-liked and heroic character.

Beghe’s romantic past

Beghe is known for his gravelly voice and high-profile roles in various film and television. He is also known for his marriage to model and actor Angie Janu. Janu’s career as an actor was short-lived, as she credited for only one role in the 1997 film Too Good to be True. Janu and Beghe were married in 2000, and separated in 2017. Beghe initiated the separation, claiming that the two have irreconcilable differences. An extremely private person, Janu has not made any public comments concerning Beghe or their separation. The two’s divorce became official in 2020, and the former couple will split their bank accounts, and now share custody of their two children.

During their marriage, Beghe and Janu had two sons together, Bix and Bo Bear Beghe. These two are the only two Beghe has had, and Janu was the only person the actor was ever married to. According to People, the two are now teenagers, and their parents are not allowed to speak ill of each other to the children. Neither Beghe nor Janu have said anything negative about the other in the press, which indicates that the divorce is amicable and the two will be able to successfully co-parent their two sons.

The now-divorced pair have also split their property, and Beghe will keep their Chicago, Illinois home, presumably to continue to film in his role in Chicago P.D., and Janu became the owner of the two’s Malibu, California property. As of now, the 60-year old Beghe is not dating anyone following his divorce and instead is focusing on the upcoming seasons of Chicago P.D
