How many siblings does Joanna Gaines have?
There are three Stevens sisters, which means that Joanna Gaines has two siblings. She has a younger sister, Mary Kay McCall, and an older sister, Teresa Ann Criswell. And it seems like Joanna occupies a place in the family that will sound familiar to many middle children. In an Instagram post, Teresa wrote that Joanna is “a first-class peacemaker with a generous spirit,” a role that many middle children take on. Their mother, Nan Stevens, would likely have a few things to say about it!
Where do Joanna Gaines’s sisters live?
You probably remember seeing Mary Kay on an episode of Fixer Upper, when Chip and Joanna renovated a Waco home for Mary Kay and her family. Joanna wrote on Instagram that the house they renovated for Mary Kay, her husband, and their family “was my all-time favorite #FixerUpper.” She added, “We got to reveal this house to my sweet sis and her family of seven (going on eight!). I can’t contain the excitement — after nine years they are finally coming back to Waco!”
Teresa lives in Austin, which is about an hour and a half or two hours from Waco. But the sisters all seem to spend lots of time together. And if you follow Joanna or Teresa on Instagram, you’ll see the three sisters having a great time whenever and wherever they get together, whether visiting the salon, going on double dates, consuming too much sugar in New York, taking care of houseplants, going record-shopping, doing some late-night decorating, or just hanging out as a family.
Two out of the three sisters chose to have big families
Joanna and her siblings didn’t come from a big family themselves. But both Joanna and Mary Kay — affectionately known as Mikey — have big families. Joanna has five kids, and Mary Kay has six. Closer notes that Mary Kay was pregnant with her sixth child while Joanna was pregnant with her fifth, baby Crew. But not every Stevens sister wanted a huge family. Teresa, on the other hand, has one daughter, with whom she even hosts a podcast.
It sounds like Joanna’s parents enjoy having a big brood of grandkids close-by in Waco. As Country Living notes, Jerry and Nan Stevens have been married for more than 45 years. They met at a party in Seoul, South Korea, in 1969, when Jerry was stationed in Korea. Despite their parents’ disapproval, they got married in 1972 in Las Vegas. Jerry ended up working at a Firestone store in Waco — the same store where Joanna would later meet Chip — and they’re still together, living in Waco.
How many siblings does Chip Gaines have?
Like Joanna Gaines, Chip Gaines didn’t grow up with a huge family. He has one sister, Shannon Braun. Country Living reports that their parents, Bob and Gayle, moved the family from Albuquerque to Dallas, where the Gaines siblings grew up and went to high school. It wasn’t until college, when Chip decided to attend Baylor University, that the future Fixer Upper star ended up in Waco. Chip and his sister seem to be competing for the title of funniest Gaines sibling, and we can imagine that the competition is pretty fierce!
