BTS is one of the most popular K-pop artists today, which means they are also among the highest earners in the genre. As a world famous group, BTS has many ways of making money—one of which is through the music-streaming platform Spotify.

Streaming is not known to bring in as much revenue as touring or album sales, but BTS has not let that stop them from earning money from Spotify anyway. Read on below to find out how much BTS has earned in a year on Spotify.

BTS has a high net worth

BTS debuted in 2013 and has since climbed their way up to the top of the K-pop industry. They also broke barriers to become hugely successful worldwide, bringing more attention to K-pop than ever before.

Because of this, it is not surprising that K-pop has a high net worth to match their success. As a group, BTS is estimated to be worth around $45 to $60 million. Much of BTS’s money comes from music sales, touring, and endorsement deals with global companies like Hyundai and Samsung.

Additionally, BTS’s label, Big Hit Entertainment, recently went public, which has helped increase BTS’s net worth tremendously. According to CNN, each member was given over 68,385 shares of the company. Since each share is worth $115, this could add around $55 million to their collective net worth.

How much money does BTS earn per year on Spotify?

BTS is quite popular on Spotify with over 31.4 million monthly listeners and 12 billion total plays so far. Their latest single, for example, has received over 234 million streams.

According to Koreaboo, it is estimated that BTS could have received over $23 million in royalties between 2019 and 2020 from Spotify alone. They are the highest-paid K-pop boy group on the streaming platform. In second place is EXO, who trails far behind with 3.35 monthly listeners, 1.8 billion total plays, and $2.26 million in royalties this past year.

Of course, it is important to note that, for most artists, money earned on Spotify often gets split with other people who also own some rights to their music, such as their labels, songwriters, producers, etc. The exact percentage of the split also varies on a case by case basis. Because of this, we do not know for sure exactly how much money each BTS member has pocketed from Spotify.

Aside from earning a lot of money on Spotify, BTS has broken records on the streaming platform as well.

For example, BTS’s latest single, “Dynamite,” received over 7,778,950 streams within a day and set the record for the biggest Spotify debut of 2020. BTS also debuted at number 1 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart, becoming the first Korean artist to have achieved this feat.

In addition to overtaking Spotify, BTS has made their marks on iTunes as well. In July 2020, BTS’s song “Black Swan” topped iTunes charts in numerous countries, becoming the artist with the most number 1 placements on iTunes.

It seems BTS is only just getting started with their world domination, and there is no telling what else BTS will be able to accomplish in the years to come.
