Movies are a big business, with big money. Huge celebrity names can always expect a big payday in major blockbusters with a higher budget than the entire Gross Domestic Product of several nations. Currently, superhero movies are the biggest craze in Hollywood and with Marvel leading the charge, the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe certainly makes a large chunk of money from each film. As the budget of these movies has gotten bigger and bigger, many of the Marvel cast has seen substantial pay raises over the years. While these actors may just play superheroes in movies, they can probably go ahead and add fabulous wealth to their real-life list of superpowers.

Chris Evans

Chris Evans is the star-spangled man with a plan himself, Captain America, and most fans couldn’t quite imagine anyone else playing the part. Chris Evans wasn’t exactly a nobody before The First Avenger in 2011, but he certainly wasn’t the household name he is today. That first movie netted him a total payday of $300,000. Not bad for a young actor but over the years it would grow with each appearance.

At his most recent appearance as the character in Avengers: Endgame he was paid almost $15 million. Chris Evans is still a relatively young actor at 40, but already worth $80 million according to Yahoo Finance. While it currently seems like his time in the MCU is done, there may be more yet to see from him.

Scarlett Johansson

The Black Widow actress also jumped up several pay grades during her nine MCU appearances. She was paid only $400,000 for her first appearance in Iron Man 2 but was paid nearly $20 million for her recent appearance in Black Widow. Despite making nearly $20 million on the film, she recently filed suit against Disney for undercutting her royalties by releasing the film on Disney+ according to US Magazine.

Mark Ruffalo

Despite the Hulk originally being played by Edward Norton in the MCU, Mark Ruffalo became the version of the character that fans know and love. He was paid over $2 million for his first appearance in The Avengers. It hasn’t been released what he made in films since then, but it’s likely that his salaries have increased to keep him on board as the essential character despite never getting a solo film.

Robert Downey Jr.

Should the MCU Keep Reusing the Same Actors in Different Roles?

Part of Tony Stark’s superpower is his loads of money, so it’s fitting that Robert Downey Jr. would be the highest-paid actor in the MCU. Downey received nearly $75 million for Avengers: Endgame, after only receiving $500,000 for his first appearance in 2008’s Iron Man.

According to The International Business Times, the actor earned over $400 million from the MCU, bringing his total net worth to nearly $800 million.

Jeremy Renner

Renner was reported to have made roughly $3 million for his appearance in The Avengers, though that wasn’t his first appearance nor would it be his last. It’s unknown how much he’s made in recent films, but it likely has only grown like many of his costars.

Chris Pratt

When Chris Pratt was cast as Starlord in Guardians of the Galaxy, it was a bit of a surprise for some fans. The Parks and Recreation actor still earned over $1.5 million for his role in that film though, and his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War was rumored to be around $5 million.

Brie Larson

Brie Larson certainly had a name for herself before she was Captain Marvel, and her pay indicated that. At $5 million for her first film, she was definitely the highest-paid first-timer superhero for Marvel.
