2 Chainz’s real name is Tauheed Epps. He was born in College Park, Georgia on September 12, 1977. Growing up, Epps lived primarily with his mother and his father spent most of the time in and out of jail because of drug charges. He lived in a rough neighborhood.

However, he was still considered to be one of the best students in his school. He usually spent a lot of his time focusing on his studies and playing basketball.

Despite the fact that he was such a good student with a bright future ahead of him, Epps was arrested and charged with marijuana possession when he was just 15 years old.  After being arrested, he decided to that he did not want to spend the majority of his life in jail like his father, so he started to take school and basketball even more seriously than he did before.

After graduating high school, he attended the University of Alabama on a basketball scholarship.  While at the university, he studied psychology and played on the basketball team for two years before transferring to Virginia State University to finish his studies.

In 2012, Epps decided that he wanted to continue his career as a solo artist.
