In case you haven’t heard, Kylie Jenner is caught up in yet another controversy.

On Mar. 18, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star came under fire after she encouraged fans to donate money to a GoFundMe for celebrity makeup artist Samuel Rauda’s medical bills after he was involved in a serious accident.

While fans called out the makeup mogul — who’s worth an estimated $900 million — for asking them to make monetary contributions to the campaign, they also slammed her for not donating enough money to cover Rauda’s medical expenses.

So, how much money did Jenner donate to Rauda’s GoFundMe, and why were people so quick to say her contribution was too small? Here’s everything we know so far.

Kylie Jenner gave $5,000 to the makeup artist’s GoFundMe

Although Jenner received a ton of flack online for not donating enough money to Rauda’s GoFundMe, it turns out that she initially believed she had covered all of his medical expenses when she first shared the campaign with her 222 million Instagram followers.

According to Page Six, Jenner donated $5,000 to Rauda’s GoFundMe after $6,000 of the original $10,000 goal had already been raised. At the time, she thought her contribution would put the campaign over the amount needed for Rauda’s surgery.

The makeup mogul then shared the GoFundMe page on her Instagram in an effort to raise “awareness” to Rauda’s situation.

“May God watch over you and protect you @makeupbysamuel everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his families go fund me.”

Insiders claim that because the Life of Kylie star “brought a lot of attention to” the GoFundMe page, the campaign’s goal was increased way above its original $10,000 request, making her $5,000 donation look smaller by comparison.

Social media users weren’t impressed with Kylie Jenner’s donation

After sharing the GoFundMe page on her Instagram, Jenner was called out by fans, who didn’t take too kindly to being encouraged to give away their money by someone worth an estimated $900 million.

In a series of tweets, fans blasted the makeup mogul for not donating enough money to Rauda’s GoFundMe, which now has a goal of $120,000.

“Kylie Jenner, who makes $19K/hr asking for $$$ from her fans to help her make up artist pay for a $60,000 surgery, is an excellent example of why we need universal healthcare,” NYC-based community activist Moumita Ahmed tweeted out Mar. 21. “Even billionaire employers like Kylie and Walmart aren’t willing to pay for their employees’ healthcare.”

While most people slammed Jenner for donating a fraction of her immense net worth to the campaign, others criticized her for spending thousands of dollars on material items, parties, and lavish vacations for herself, her 3-year-old daughter Stormi Webster and Kardashian-Jenner family members.

Kylie Jenner just set the record straight on the GoFundMe controversy

Not long after finding herself at the center of this major controversy, Jenner took to her Instagram Stories to address the GoFundMe backlash.

“I feel it’s important for me to clear this false narrative that i’ve asked fans for money and am not paying for my makeup artist’s medical bills,” she wrote in a statement posted on Mar. 22. “Sam isn’t my makeup artist and unfortunately we don’t have a personal relationship anymore but i have worked with him a few years ago and i think he’s the sweetest.”

She continued, “After learning in more detail about the accident it compelled me to visit his gofundme which was set at 10k. They had already raised 6k and i put in 5k to reach their original goal and thought i’d post it on my stories to raise more awareness if anyone also felt compelled to share and donate.”

According to Jenner, her intentions were sincere but eventually “got so twisted.”

“[Rauda’s] family has reached out through Ariel and are very appreciative of all the donations, prayers, and love towards Sam,” she concluded. “Anyone that knows me knows that I do things from the heart and try to be helpful whenever I can. Let’s all stay positive and keep Sam, his family, and anyone you know who is going through a difficult time in our prayers. I hope you have a beautiful day and let’s encourage each other to help.”
