Patrick Mahomes just signed the biggest contract in major league sports history. On Monday, July 6, the 24-year-old signed a 10-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs that could net the Super Bowl champion over $500 million. Mahomes and his longtime love Brittany Matthews celebrated being set for life, surrounded by family and friends, then getting back to work.

Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes’ celebrate his new contract

Mahomes and Matthews — who have been together since 10th grade — took to social media to celebrate his historic contact. Matthews even got a little cheeky in the caption of a photo of the two of them at the signing by writing “Let me tell y’all about my best friend, he earned that ish.”

Mahomes also took to Instagram and posted a video detailing his time in Kansas City. From the moments the Chiefs drafted him, up until his Super Bowl comeback, with the caption, “Here to stay…! ⏰⏰”

He followed up that post with another video proclaiming his love for the Chiefs organization as well as the city itself. The Texas-native has made it clear he is here to stay and even proved it by telling the entire Chiefs Kingdom, “Kansas City, we’re just getting started. This is home”

Mahomes and Matthews hit Lake Tahoe

After quarantining in Texas at the beginning of the pandemic, Mahomes and Matthews have been making the most of his offseason. After he signed his record-breaking deal the twosome jetted off to Lake Tahoe where they met up with Travis Kelce, his girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, and a few other friends.

Kelce and Mahomes were in town to play in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament with the superstar QB both representing and drinking Coors Light.

The two Kansas City Chiefs’ stars were clearly having a good time on the course with chest bumps and a wet willy — courtesy of Kelce while Mahomes was doing a live interview. They continued their antics off the course, by boarding a boat with the ladies.

Matthews and Nicole shared multiple posts to social media highlighting some beer chugging and twerking. The group even took time to hit a casino, where Mahomes was seen entering wearing a mask, putting his safety first, which we can only imagine the Chiefs appreciate.

Patrick Mahomes lands the cover of GQ

While Mahomes may be considered a savior to every Chiefs fan, the August issue of GQ is declaring him “the superstar the NFL needs right now.” Big shoes to fill? Perhaps. But Mahomes just says he is “proud of who I am.”

“I’ve always just had the confidence and believed in who I am. And I’ve known that I’m Black. And I’m proud to be Black. And I’m proud to have a white mom too. I’m just proud of who I am.”

That confidence is what lead Mahomes to join other NFL stars in a powerful 71-second video asking the NFL to condemn racism.

According to ESPN, Commissioner Roger Goodell’s quick response was based on the fact Mahomes chose to participate, especially since he was in the middle of negotiating his new contract.

“I’m in the middle of negotiating my next contract, to hopefully be a Kansas City Chief for a long time, but I still thought this was important enough and this was something that had to be said. It wasn’t something I could sit back on and worry about my next contract, because I needed to use my platform to help. Sometimes it’s not about money. It’s not about fame. It’s about doing what’s right.”

While Mahomes is busy getting ready for next season, Matthews — who owns her own fitness company, Brittany Lynne Fitness — is back in the gym. And on social media where she offers workouts plans, fitness tips, and some insight into her life with the $500 million man.
