How the Friendship in SuperM Has Grown Since the Group Debuted

The members of SuperM are known as the “Avengers of K-pop” as all of the members originally debuted in other groups with SM Entertainment. SuperM officially debuted in October 2019. While some of the members were already close friends, it’s clear that over the past few months all of the members have become close.

On Feb. 6, Glamour posted a video of SuperM taking a friendship test. Through the different exercises, the members of SuperM showed how close they have become.

Taeyong finds SuperM’s leader Baekhyun to be funny

At the start of the video, the members of SuperM were split up into groups. Baekhyun and Taeyong were paired up, Kai and Mark were partners, and Taemin, Ten, and Lucas were put in a group of three. During the first exercise, the members talked about their friendships.

“The more I got to know him, I realized how funny he was,” Taeyong said of SuperM’s leader Baekhyun.

Baekhyun acknowledged that Taeyong finds him funny.

“First of all, we talked a lot,” Baekhyun said. “And Taeyong laughs at all my jokes. So naturally we got closer and became friendlier.”

Baekhyun also talked about his first impression of Taeyong compared to now.

“And when I saw Taeyong, I wanted to give him strength. That was my first thought. So, I made the effort to get closer,” Baekhyun said. “But after I got to know him, I realized that he slept well, ate good, and that he’s a very bright child.”

Kai views Mark as his perfect younger brother

While he has debuted in four different groups, Mark is the youngest member of SuperM. During the first friendship exercise, Mark described how much he looked up to Kai as a trainee.

“Our friendship began like way before I even debuted actually,” Mark said. “I think I first saw him when I was a trainee when I first came to Korea. That was like 2012. I remember seeing him like through a glass door inside a practice room, him just like dancing and like moving. And like, one of my trainers were like ‘You gotta dance like that.’ And I was like ‘Dang, I gotta dance like that.'”

After talking about their friendships, the members of SuperM hugged each other for one minute. Next, the members gave each other compliments.

“Mark, when I think about my ideal younger brother, he would be exactly like you,” Kai said. “You are my ideal brother personified.”

Mark also had a meaningful compliment for Kai, and told Kai how caring he is for those in his life.

“… you’re the type of person who will protect and take care of the people he loves,” Mark said.

Ten, Taemin, and Lucas could not stop laughing

There is perhaps nothing better than watching people who care about each other have fun. It makes happiness contagious. During the friendship test with Glamour, that joy came across with Taemin, Ten, and Lucas. While the three of them hugged, they could not stop laughing.

“First off, we can smell the tops of each other’s heads,” Taemin said.

After giving each other compliments, they also giggled their way through the next exercise of mirroring each other’s dance moves. Still, the three SuperM members sincerely talked about their friendship. When Lucas, Ten, and Taemin gave each other compliments, Lucas brought up Ten’s unique way of thinking.

“The way you think is so unique,” Lucas said. “I love the way you think.”

“Beyond music, whether it’s drawing, or even eating, you express your artistic qualities in so many different ways,” Taemin said of Ten.
