What is ‘The Curse of Oak Island’?

The Curse of Oak Island is a reality show on History Channel that follows brothers Rick and Marty Lagina — and their team of experts and business partners — as they search for long-lost buried treasure on an island in Nova Scotia called Oak Island. Linked to several mysteries and conspiracy theories, treasure hunters have sought-out Oak Island for centuries in hopes of finding some of the world’s most magnificent (and missing) treasures.

What is buried on Oak Island? According to some theories, the Knights Templar might have buried the Holy Grail and Ark of the Covenant deep within the money pit. On top of that, Marie Antoinette’s long-lost crown jewels are believed to reside somewhere on the island.

In addition, several pirates — and their treasure — have connections to the island, including the famous 17th-century pirate, Captain Kidd. Legend suggests a dying crewmember of his revealed that  £2 million in treasure was buried somewhere on the island. In the 19th-century, treasure hunters came across a stone with “Forty feet below, two million pounds lie buried” engraved on it and believed it could have something to do with the pirate’s alleged treasure.
