What is ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ about

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the third and final installment of the Skywalker saga. The last two films in the series — The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi — introduce new characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

All three movies follow Rey and Kylo Ren’s relationship with the Force, and their ensuing battles. They also tell the final story in the fight between the Empire and the Resistance, while wrapping up Leia (Carrie Fisher), Luke (Mark Hamill), and Hans Solo’s (Harrison Ford) storylines.

In The Rise of Skywalker, Rey, Finn, and Poe find themselves leading the Resistance in its final fight against Kylo Ren, Palpatine, and the First Order.  Rey, who’s origins have always been a mystery, finally discovers where she came from. And as she embraces her place in the Force, Rey helps the Resistance in their last battle against the Empire.

Where you can stream it

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available on a number of different streaming services. You can purchase the Blu-Ray or digital download for $19.99 on Amazon Prime Video, or rent it for a 48-hour period for $5.99. The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi are also available for rent and purchase on these streamers, as well as iTunes. But with a Disney+ subscription, you can stream both films on the Disney+ app or website at no additional cost.

When will ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ come to Disney+?

Due to coronavirus safety precautions. movie theaters were forced to shut down. Now, to accommodate audiences, studios like Disney are making changes to their release schedules and formats.

Frozen 2, which premiered a month before The Rise of Skywalker, came to Disney’s streaming service three weeks ahead of schedule on March 15. Pixar’s Onward opened in theaters on March 6 but was released as a purchasable digital download two weeks later. It is now scheduled to hit Disney+ on April 3.

With these popular films getting earlier than expected releases, many are wondering when The Rise of Skywalker will be available on Disney+.  But, unfortunately, LucasFilm and Disney haven’t announced a release date. Some have speculated the film will be available on Disney+ this summer, but this has yet to be confirmed.

However, the streamer does offer a number of other popular Star Wars titles. You can watch the first eight films of the Skywalker saga on Disney+, as well as hit series like The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian
