[SPOILER ALERT: Spoilers ahead for Insecure Season 4 Episode 9.]

In Insecure, Issa initially started as a youth liaison before quitting as she realized she had more to give to her community. After getting by as a Lyft driver and property manager, she pulled off a successful block party and has started a career as a “culture curator.” As she’s changed, her relationship with college best friend Molly has as well. Even though the two were doing “Self-Care Sundays” to hang out and catch up, they fell out of it.

Additionally, the friends stopped communicating daily as Issa stayed busy with the block party, and Molly focused on a new relationship. The distance and miscommunication resulted in a blow-up at the block party, and they hadn’t talked since then. Here’s what happened when the friends reconnected and all the music featured in the episode.

Issa and Molly parted ways by the end of ‘Lowkey Tryin’

After their honest conversation, Issa and Lawrence decided to give their relationship another shot, which inspired her to want to reach out to Molly and repair their friendship. She phoned her estranged best friend, and the two met up at a restaurant.

They caught up on family situations, and Issa shared her recent story about the girls who dined and dashed. They also said they loved each other before parting ways. Even though they had a nice conversation, Molly told Andrew she felt it was “superficial” because they never talked about their fight.

On the other hand, Issa thought it went well and thought the two would be back to where they were in only a couple of weeks. Although Issa had begun romantically seeing Lawrence again, she honored her promise to her ex Nathan that she would help him move.

When they returned to retrieve more boxes from the apartment he previously shared with Andrew, Molly and her boyfriend were both home. The couple invited Nathan and Issa to stay for dinner, which they accepted.

While it seemed they were having a good time playing games, Molly sent Issa a message meant for Andrew, saying she was “trying” with her. Therefore, she abruptly left the house with her friend running after her.

The culture curator attempted to figure out what went wrong in their relationship, but Molly admitted she didn’t think their lives fit together anymore, leaving Issa stunned.h
